Kurt walked into the Warbler hall with a sigh. It was Valentines Day, his least favourite day of the year. With all the cuddling couples in the hallways, Kurt was constantly reminded of the fact he was very, very single. The Warbler's hall was, more or less, free of smooching couples, much to Kurt's relief. He took his place next to Blaine on the leather loveseat. Kurt noticed Blaine nervously tapping his fingers against his knee.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Huh?" Blaine looked up, his eyes glassy.
"You look a bit, I don't know, nervous?" Kurt said, trying to catch Blaine's eye.
"Oh, I'm fine."
Before Kurt was able to pester Blaine for more on the subject Wes demanded quiet in the room. "Happy Valentines Day, everyone," he said once the room was quiet, "We're actually going to start today off with a song. Blaine, Kurt? The floor is yours."
Kurt stood up with a smile. He and Blaine had been preparing for the past week, but the serious tone of the room made Kurt's stomach turn. Would they get the humour in the song? Blaine had walked to the corner of the room to pick up his acoustic guitar. He stayed in the corner as he began to play. All of Kurt's worries were forgotten as soon as the first beautiful note left Blaine's lips.
Can't get the words out of my mouth Olive you and everything you do
That little feeling everyone talks about
The things you say like I miss your face
I wanna let you know but I can't get the words to go so
What two words can mean afraid to say the other three
Olive you the words are coming true
I don't know what to say but olive you
Kurt smiled at the chorus, he couldn't help it. He felt like it played on the irony of their long-avoided relationship; their inability to tell each other how they truly felt. Kurt began his lines, locking eyes with Blaine.
Can't fight the feeling I feel inside
I try to tell you but I always hide
The things you say like I want you to stay right
Here by my side and let the words slide
Olive you and the little things you do
What two words can mean afraid to say the other three
Olive you the words coming true
I don't know what to say but olive you
Blaine began to walk to the center of the room as he played. They began to sing together.
You wanna tell me but I don't know how to say it
Kurt sang the next line alone, Blaine harmonizing in the background.
I'll let it out what's been on my mind
Those two words need an I love…
For the final chorus Kurt and Blaine sang together. They were close enough that Kurt could feel Blaine's arm tense and relax as he played.
I love you and everything you do
Those two words mean what I meant to say with three
I love you never felt so smooth
All I can say is I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you
I love you…
As the song drifted off Blaine cupped Kurt's face in his right hand, leaning awkwardly over his guitar to place a kiss on his boyfriend's lips.
"I love you," Blaine whispered as he pulled away, and the Warblers burst into loud cheering and catcalling.
