It's a law of science that Wally is very familiar with. The positive and negative charges in a group of different atoms will bring the two or more together to form ionic bonds. He always liked to think that this bond was unbreakable, like the one that he had formed with Dick so long ago. Their cheerful friendship, cheesy jokes and video gaming canceled out their negative experiences like his abuse, and Dick's struggle to overcome his parents' deaths. The only problem was that the bond could be broken, and science was cruelly correct in Wally's life. If you give an ionic bond enough heat, it will break apart and the ions will go their separate ways. That's what these fights were… built up anger… slowly gaining enough ground to separate two best friends for good. Wally sighed as he wrung his hands and put his head into them, thinking about how his life had changed in a flash. In this world, there's not much time -even for a speedster- to enjoy the lighter side of life, and he hated every bit of time spent in the darkness of a lonely apartment. How could he let Dick send Artemis away? How could he let her leave? Dick had become his own worst nightmare; Batman, and would sacrifice anything for the mission to be successful. First Artemis, and now the cave for further proof, as if her life didn't even matter! What about Bart, stuck in the past? He was probably messing up their whole future by being captured with Gar and Jaime. Nothing was worth the mission anymore- but Dick couldn't see anything past his mask! Maybe this was another thing they were supposed to experience together for the good of their friendship, but to Wally, it seemed like the bond was being worn by time and was likely to end in the only other way possible; shattering to pieces all at once.

Amazingly my Chem. class brought on my first attempt at angst. I don't know why, but my science classes inspire the creative side of my brain… perhaps that's why I don't do too well in science. XD –KF13
