The story of us
This is my first fic; I love Castle, I've been watching since day one, I love all the characters and I have a few stories but never get the courage to publish them, let's see how this goes…this is an AU story, with mention of season 1-4 but it's set in the future, the timeline is different, they met when they were in Stanford but then her mother died, lost contact and met again a few years later when Kate was an officer, they have been married for 12 years.… the rest will be explain in the story, maybe with the help of flashbacks (let me know what you think)… thanks for reading, sorry for the mistakes but obviously English is not my first language…let me know what you think.

Expectations vs reality
Richard Castle was a romantic, he was a writer so he believed in happy endings, he believed in destiny and love for a lifetime, growing up he used to imagine that one day he would meet the perfect girl, fall in love, marry her and be happy for the next fifty or sixty years. And even when he knew that life was not a fairytale, two divorces taught him that, he definitely believed he had his happily ever after the day Katherine Beckett walked through that aisle in her beautiful with dress ten years ago, the day she became Katherine Castle, not professionally of course, in the precinct she was Kate Becket, except for the occasional joke from Esposito and Ryan; he still remembers every detail of that summer day they became Mr. and Mrs. Castle, and that day he was convinced they would grow old together with their children and grandchildren.
Katherine Becket Castle believes that marriage is hard work, of course love is the most important ingredient but she never believed in soul mates or destiny, she and Rick were together because they were in love and because they overcame so many obstacles and still managed to stay together, they made mistakes and they learned to forgive. This was Beckett and Castle after the books, after the work, after all the craziness, after the kids, they were supposed to be happy, they were supposed to be in the same page, he promised her that he would give her the family she missed so much and she believed him… she let the walls come down, she let him and Alexis in, that´s one of the reasons of why it's so hard for her to realize that they weren´t happy, that they didn´t have the proverbial life he promised her, sure they were The Castles, they had a beautiful house, he still was a great writer, even if the inspiration wasn't on his side lately; she still was an outstanding member of the NYPD, a sergeant, it was logical to keep moving in her profession and a year ago she finally decided to go for it and short time later she became the youngest sergeant in the city but with more desk work now, she had to be honest, she missed the field a lot, but it was worth it, it was a little sacrifice she had to make to make sure she was back at home by dinner every night, to be there to help with the homework and to cheer in the baseball games. Before the writer and the cop now they were Kate and Rick, the proud parents of Alexis, Isabella and Liam… they were husband and wife but they weren't partners anymore and she couldn´t even pinpoint the day they lost each other, and worst she wasn´t sure they could find each other one more time, yeah Kate believed that marriage was hard work but she also knew that it wasn´t supposed to be this hard.
