Five wishes

A/N

I was stargazing one night, and during that time I saw five shooting stars. Don't believe me? Well neither did some of my friends. Oh well, at least a couple of them saw some of the stars. Anyway, this story was loosely based on the events that night.

"There, another one. Did you see it this time?"

Temari looked up and her shoulders dropped slightly.. "No, I missed it again."

Shikamaru rolled his eyes. "That's the third one you've missed tonight, Temari."

She got up and rose to a kneeling position beside him. "Well I'm sorry if your so much better than me at seeing them."

Shikamaru smirked. "It was your idea to come here to look at them. You should have at least seen one by now."

"Yeah, well they always seem to go when I'm looking away."

"Maybe they don't like you."

Temari frowned slightly and looked back at the stars, ignoring him.

Shikamaru chuckled again and leaned on the tree behind him. He was about to close his eyes when another shooting star whizzed by.

He pointed in its direction. "Tell me you saw that one."

Temari, turned around, now facing in the direction pointed by him. She gave an annoyed sigh and leaned on his shoulder. "This is stupid."

Shikamaru closed his eyes and smiled. "No, you just have bad timing."

"Shut up."

Shikamaru opened his eyes, ready to retort, when another streak of light passed by. "That's five."

"Huh? Where?"

"It's gone now."

Temari sighed again. "Fine, I give up. I hope you enjoy your five wishes," She sarcastically replied, crossing her arms and placing her back on the tree.

Shikamaru laughed. "You want wishes? I'll give you mine. Take all but two if you really want them."

Temari eyed him. "Fine, I'll take the others." She smiled contently and relaxed. "But tell me, what would you wish for with what you've got left?"

She saw him blush slightly.

"If I tell you it won't come true."

She hit him slightly, causing him to flinch. "Tell me."

"But it's bad luck if I –"

"Tell. Me."

Shikamaru let out a small sigh. "I'd wish for this night with you to last," he said softly.

She kissed him on the cheek. "Cheesy, Shikamaru, but sweet."

He grumbled slightly then followed it with silence.

"Hey Shikamaru?"

"What?"

"What about your second wish?"

He smiled, as if laughing at something ironic.

"Well?"

Silence fell for another moment.

"I was going to wish that you wouldn't find out about the first one."
