Greece was sprawled out on one of his mother's many buildings. The tall marble columns were chipped and broken, seeing many nations rise and fall. The giant roof that had once been new and shinning, know was crumbling and broken. These building were older then him yet sometimes he felt like they were also stronger.
Greece sighed at his inner though. He turned on the one of the marble benches where he had spent many years learning each crack. He turned again, looking up at the night sky through the broken roof of the building, watching to stars twinkle. Pulling his tan jacket over himself like a blanket, he heard the bells of a nearby church chime. It was midnight.
"Happy Birthday…" He whispered to himself. He felt his lip twitch into a small smile. He remembered when his mother was still around, when he was still so young, not a care in the world. When he was still so innocent...
"Happy Birthday…" Said a lady to the small boy in her arms. She was beautiful by anyone standers. Long, brown flowing hair, a leave crown and a white silk dress that waterfalled onto the marble floor beneath them. She gently kissed his small forehead.
"Mama…" The small boy whispered softly. His small, pale hands reached up to wipe the sleepiness out of his eyes.
"Yes Darling?" She said. Her voice was kind, motherly, yet you could almost hear her strong independence. A soft smile soon painted her rosy lips. "What is it?" She said quietly bending down the get closer to the boy in her arms.
"Tell me a stowy." He whispered. The woman, smile still on her face, started to cradle the boy in her arms.
"Once upon a time… on a faraway mountain called Mount Olympus… there was a beautiful goddess…."
Greece sighed, trying to keep tears in that threatened to his attempt was in vein as soon he felt a lone tear trail down his face.
Greece wiped it way with his arm carelessly. A cat jumped onto the bench next to him, and curled its self into a ball. Soon he could hear the purr of the cat, soundly asleep. Greece put a hand on it's back and continued to look up at the stars above him.
"Oh Greece, dear, Where are you?" She said playfully. She could hear a muffled giggle. "Hmmm… I wonder…" She said playfully, walking over to a statue. "Is he…" Then she popped her head to look behind the statue. "Here!" Greece giggles happily and his mother picked him up.
"You found me!" Greece said a wide and bright smile on his face. His mother copied his smile.
"I love you. I love you so much." She said, lovingly kissing his forehead.
"I wove you too, Mama!" Greece said giggling.
"You do! Well, do you want to be…tickled!" She said, as she playfully tickled her son.
Greece could feel a few more tear fall from his eyes. He sat up, and wiped them up with his jacket this time. He missed his mother, so much. Greece felt a few more tears fall.
"Greece? Are you ok?" someone said, Greece turned to see Japan.
"Oh. Hello Japan. Yes, I'm fine just thinking." Greece said letting out a sad smile.
"Oh, well, I came here to wish you a Happy Birthday. I didn't mean to be this early." Japan said tripping over his words slightly. Greece smiled again, this one, a little happier.
"No, it's fine. I'm glad you came. I need some company on my if it is early" Greece said. "Please, come watch the stars with me." Japan nodded and walked over to still on the marble bench, next to a curled up cat.
"I was just star gazing." Greece said. "My mother would always show me the constellations."
"Your Mother? I've never heard you talk much about her. Would you tell me, if it is a matter on which you would like to discuss." Japan said.
"Well…she was a very cheerful woman…" Greece began.
