Dean turned the volume dial to maximum, pounding the steering wheel in time with the drums. "THIS IS A GOOD ONE!" He shouted over the music, "VAN HALEN." Castiel nodded hesitantly, unsure whether he enjoyed the blaring classic or not. Dean noticed Castiel's uncertainty and he called over, "DO YOU WANT TO CHANGE IT OR SOMETHING?" Cas hesitated for a moment. Dean was offering to let him pick the music in the Impala? This was a first. He didn't even let Sam do that. Still, Castiel took the opportunity he was presented with, and he reached over and fiddled with the tuning dial until a song came up that was both appropriately quiet and that Dean still enjoyed, if the gleam that appeared in his eye was anything to go on. "Kansas." His voice had lowered along with the music, and now it was almost a reverent whisper. Castiel gazed over at Dean, mesmerised by his nostalgic smile. "What?" Dean chuckled. Broken from his reverie, Cas shook his head. "Nothing Dean." Again his mind wandered, the only common topic in his scattered thoughts being Dean. This time he was roused from his daydreaming by something else. That something else being a pair of warm lips covering his own. His eyes snapped open for a moment before he allowed them to close again and he melted against Dean. He felt the corners of Dean's mouth turn up in a slight smile aand then he pulled back, grinning at Castiel, flushed brighter than he'd ever been. They sat in silence for a moment, before Cas found the words to ask, "Why..." Dean cut him off, "Sorry if you didn't want that but I know I'm not going to regret it." Castiel shook his head. "It was a surprise, but I am not sorry. merely slightly confused." Dean shrugged, "For the past few weeks I've been feeling kind of funny. A couple days ago I figured out why..." He trailed off, and Castiel raised an eyebrow to prompt him to continue. Quietly Dean finished his explanation, sounding almost timid. "I'm in love with you..." He looked apologetically across the Impala at Cas, waiting for his response. He was caught by surprise at Castiel launching himself across the seat and grabbing Dean's face in his hands, kissing him because he had nothing he could possibly say to the hunter that would convey what he was feeling. Relief, happiness, love... Cas mumbled "i love you too" against Dean's lips and he reacted by deepening their kiss, running his tongue along Castiel's chapped lower lip. Cas allowed him in, feeling a shiver run down his spine as Dean's hands ran through his dark, rumpled hair. Kansas played on the forgotten radio as the sun went down, the hunter and the fallen angel finally realising what had been obvious to the world for so long.
