Little things

"Isaac! Isaac! Wait up! Isaac!"

Isaac noticed that Scott had managed to constrain himself to a speed that wasn't suspicious but yet slightly faster than you'd expect. The difference between natural and supernatural was subtle, but Isaac noticed. He noticed many little things lately.

"Isaac, did you hear from Stiles this morning?" Scott asked. The look in his eyes was a curious combination of hope and knowing better.

"No, I haven't," replied the taller one. Why would I? he thought.

Scott bit his underlip and gazed into space, an facial expression that Isaac had learnt to interpret as Scott's thinking face.

"You'll text me when you see him, right Isaac?" The Omega finally broke the silence.

The Wolf with the Curls liked it when Scott called him by his name. Maybe he was just imagining it, but the way Scott said it had a pleasant ring to it. It somehow remembered him of Camden.

"Why are you looking for him in the first place?" Isaac inquired, more to prevent his dead brother to haunt him for the rest of the day than out of interest. He didn't really like Stiles, or rather, Stiles didn't seem to like him very much. Isaac had noticed Stiles was more snarky towards him than towards, say, Erica.

"I haven't heard from Stiles since, like, midnight. I'm worried," Scott said, checking his phone.

Isaac used this window of opportunity to glance at the clock down the hallway.

It was Thursday morning two minutes before half past nine.

Scott and Stiles hadn't been in touch for roughly nine and a half hours and Scott was worried sick about his best friend. Moreover the next period was chemistry, the first class Stiles and Scott had together on Thursdays.

It was not for the first time, and certainly not the last, that Isaac asked himself just how far the intimacy between Scott and Stiles went exactly.

Not that he had the guts to ask, though.

"Maybe he's at library!" Scott exclaimed abruptly. His face brightened up by the idea of Stiles being preoccupied with some research on whatever.

As his new-found friend ran off to the library of Beacon Hills High, Isaac wondered if 'worried' had a smell, but he wasn't sure if Scott would know and this wasn't the time to ask. Besides, he had to return Boyd's history notes before chemistry.
