"So this is why you froze yourself."
"Well, that and a combination of many other reasons..."
"You don't have to rationalize being in unrequited love with Spock."
"But yet Spock is so logical."
D thought for a moment, "Is this why you like Data so much?"
V paused and then continued doing her work.
"Why are you so drawn to them? When you think about it they have varying differences. One regrets to show his emotions, while the other strives to know what those are."
V still didn't answer.
"Or maybe you were trying to get from Data what you couldn't get from Spock."
Looking at D, V said, "I never put much stock into emotions. My feelings for them are only fleeting and unreal. Never did I really get to know them to do so and I never expected anything back, therefore what you are doing won't be of much help."
"You say that but how act is quite to the contrary. It isn't a shame to have feelings and be human."
"My act is only an act, because I realized I fit in better that way; that I could get more accomplished. Also, I do not feel shame I just don't comprehend so many emotions on so many little things."
"Yet despite wanting to look strong I can see the tears in your eyes. How can you function in such a state?"
"That doesn't impact my performance on this ship. I am quite used to working under any circumstances."
"The question is do you still want to be on this ship?"
"I believe that staying would benefit this ship."
"But you must have more than that for a reason to stay."
"Are you suggesting I leave?"
"No, not at all, many people would miss you."
"Not that many, I kept mostly to myself, and the one person I spent most of time with can easily file me in one of many people they have met. Not worth any more or less to them."
"I don't think that is true."
"Actually, I had thought of possibly leaving, however I didn't want it to be that I am running away...like when I froze myself."
"But the way you made it out to me, no one would blame you. I am not saying to leave, but do what you feel is right."
"In this case there wouldn't be one."
"Staying would benefit the ship and facing your emotions would benefit you. Maybe leaving, however, would help you get in touch with your humanity and emotions. Maybe face all you couldn't face when you were younger. Though, that can be dealt with at a later time."
"I will take that into consideration, now if you don't mind…" indicating the door.
"I wish you would talk more about it. I am here for you," D said.
"Thank you for your appreciation and time, but actually I do need privacy at this stage."
"You are welcome, then, and I wish the best for you," said D while leaving.
