Duo opened his eyes in a chamber of throbbing crimson. He tried to sit up or at least move but he was firmly bound to a stone slab with chains that seemed delicate but were unbreakable.
Dark red candles flickered around the chamber illuminating the decorations adorning the dark place. Everything from daggers to rapiers to two handed broadswords two halberds to hand-axes and back to wicked looking spiked maces and flails. Whips hung half coiled, like snakes waiting to strike. A small brazier with long shafts of iron were in one corner, burning malevolently.
But none of these things scared Duo, not really. What really scared Duo were the contents of one small wooden table. One of the objects was a crytal orb, round and flawless. It seemed mute and dull and chilled Duo's very soul. There was an equally harmless-looking cyllindrical container, completely empty, that struck fear into the depths of Duo's heart.
As he stared at the two objects, his pulse began to race as they seemed to be getting closer... closer...
Duo's head snapped up at the sound of sharp sounding steps from the dim entrance. The figure that approached wore long blood red robes that pulsed darkly. Dark red eyes gleamed with an unholy light under dark hair. Blood red lips were curled up into a faint, evil smirk. Clasped hands were even adorned with equally blood red nail polish.
"Duo..." the figure said softly. Duo strained to free himself as the figure stopped by his side and ran a dark finger down his bare flank. "Beautiful," he said, voice a serpent's hiss.
"Why? Why are you doing this?" Duo demanded. "Please Heero, why?"he begged. A dark, enigmatic smile answered him. Heero strode over to the table and ran a caressing hand over the orb and the cyllinder and they seemed to hum at him.
"I have you, Duo Maxwell." Heero looked right at Duo, eyes blazing. He walked over to Duo again and stood very close, so Duo could feel the material rub his exposed skin. "I have you body, heart and soul."
"Prove it!" Duo exclaimed, a little too fast.
"Easy," said Heero and kissed Duo. Duo responded automatically, seeking to go deeper even as he hardened. "Very good. Your body was easy to capture. But your heart and soul...well that will be more challenging."
Heero produced the orb from one sleeve and held it over Duo, then let go. It hovered over Duo, who shrank away in fear.
"And now for your soul," Heero hissed and Duo felt tearing from every corner of his body. A gold mist pulled away from Duo's body, leaving a gasping, gaping hole in Duo's being. He felt... empty.
The golden mist was captured inside the orb, ever so slowly becoming muter and duller.
"And finally, your heart." Duo's dull, dead eyes merely watched as Heero reached into his chest, as if flesh were water. He felt a faint tearing and Heero's hand reappeared holding his still beating heart.
The fist-sized organ wasn't bleeding and it appeared perfectly normal, pericardium perfect. Except for the fact it was outside his body.
"Now..." Heero said, smile wide and vicious, "You Are MINE!" The heart was slipped into the cyllinder which began to glow ruby red. "Mine, all mine Duo." Heero bent to kiss the mostly inert boy, who no longer had the Heart to fight. "Duo... Duo..." Duo began to shake.
"Duo!" Duo's eyes opened and he clutched the blankets around him, checking to see if his chest was intact.
"Duo, what's wrong?" asked Heero, who was now awake and laying on his stomach.
"Nothing, just a dream," said Duo softly. Heero shrugged and kissed Duo and went back to sleep. He couldn't recall his last dream, something about giving his heart and soul...
