Chapter One

Rose stormed upstairs. She had finally had enough. She couldn't fathom her parents being more annoying, but this proved they could be, and it was much worse than what she had imagined.

She couldn't catch a break around here. It was always either one thing or another, she was always needed for something; whether it was to babysit Hugo when her parents went to the Quidditch World Cup for two weeks, or to sit and read the library of books her mother had collected from her travels and wanted Rose to read. But Rose wasn't like her mother. She wasn't uptight, and she didn't correct every single one of her daughters minor mistakes. She supposed she was smart, like her mother, but that's where the comparisons ended.

She was much more like her father, but that didn't seem much better at the moment. Her dad was easy going, and always fun to be around, if you didn't make him angry. He was sporty, like her, and raised her to be a keeper every since she could sit on a broom.

Hugo, however, was exactly like their mother. What was his, was his, and that was final. He had already read Hermione's mountain of books, and was often taken to the book shop in Diagon Alley to buy more with his ostentatious allowance; something Rose only saw once in a blue moon.

She loved the Diagon Alley bookshop, along with all the other shops in Diagon Alley, but lately she had been grounded much too often to visit. Her parents may not have changed, Rose knew that she was growing up and changing, she was going to Hogwarts, for Merlins sake! It had taken long enough. All of her Aunts and Uncles had told her the most magnificent stories about their experiences; Historical Quidditch matches that made the record books, games the made up on the changing staircases, visiting the house elves in the kitchens. She couldn't wait! She had been dreaming about Hogwarts since she was old enough to listen to these stories, and herexcitement had only intensified this year.

When she wasn't grounded, and her letter had finally arrived, her parents had dropped everything to go into town, and get school supplies. They had gotten a cauldron, books, robes and a trunk to put everything in, but the most memorable moment was in Ollivander's, when after going through at least have a dozen wands, finding the perfect one, a 10 inch, dragon heartstring oak, with a rose, spiral pattern winding through it.

Although this thought calmed her down, she was still angry at her parents. She turned on the Whomping Wizards album to its highest volume. Her new, auburn feathered, spotty barn-owl Geoffrey shrieked in discomfort. Rose sighed. She hated Wizard Rock as much as he did, and so did her parents. That was the only reason she played it so loud. Her parents thought she like that music; that was the only reason they didn't ground her for playing it, but they often came very close. Rose would have much preferred to listen to some soft Celestina Warbeck, maybe then her eardrums wouldn't feel like imploding.

Suddenly, the floor began to shake. That could only mean one thing. Someone was coming to visit, and they were using the Floo System.

Great, another way to make Hermione annoyed; fill the living room with ash. Rose was sure looking forward to that
