Scorpius Malfoy stood in the bathroom adjoining the Slytherin dorms, in front of the large mirror, staring into his light grey eyes. He ran a hand through his silvery blonde hair and sighed.

'Just ask him,' he told himself, 'man up and ask him. What's the worse that could happen?'

'He'll reject you and you'll hate yourself,' another voice said. Scorpius shook this thought away. He and Albus had been dating for two months now, he couldn't reject him.

'What if he secretly wants to break up with you?'

Scorpius splashed his face with water and looked at himself. His hair was too long, it needed cutting. He smiled at the thought of Albus cutting it for him. The sole reason he grew it long in the first place.

Scorpius combed his hair, trying to make it look presentable, and tidied up his clothes. Albus was downstairs in the common room, probably reading. Scorpius was going to ask him to the dance, and if things went well, he'd be going with his favorite person in the world.

Scorpius nervously tiptoed downstairs into the large, dimly-lit room. He spotted Albus near the fireplace, curled up on the sofa, nose in one of his books. Scorpius smiled.

Albus was so absorbed in his reading, he didn't notice Scorpius had sat down next to him until he heard a throat being cleared.

"Oh, hey, Scorp!" He greeted, smiling at the blonde boy.

"Hello," replied Scorpius, fidgeting with his hands and looking at everything but his best friend. Albus, who was able to read Scorpius like one of his many books, picked up that something was wrong immediately.

"Are you alright?" He asked, putting down his copy of A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot.

"Yeah, yes... everything's fine." Reassured Scorpius. Albus smirked at him.

"You're a terrible liar, Scorp, you know that, right?"

"Alright, alright. There is... something..." Scorpius paused, searching for the right words to use.

"Um, Albus... I was wondering if you... I mean, would you... like to, maybe... I don't know... um... you don't have to, of course, but... um-" Albus quickly cut him off by placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.

"Whatever it is you want to ask, don't be nervous."

Scorpius blushed, staring into Albus's emerald green eyes.

"Albus, would you... like to go to the dance with me?" Albus smiled at him.

"I'd love to," he replied, in little more than a whisper.

Author's note:

Hey! Yes, this is a new fanfiction. Yes, it has been published literally a day after my other fanfiction. I like to write, okay? I was going to make this a one-shot, but I feel it sounds better split into individual (albeit short) chapters. I won't make you wait too long for each chapter dw. A few days maximum, but I'll try and post every other day. It's not too long. I hope you enjoy it! Reviews are always welcome. I'm also working on some other fics as well, includin long one. It's not Harry Potter related though. But please keep an eye out for it, I'm working really hard, and it's kind of turned into my main project. Okay, I'm rambling now this note is longer than the actual goddamn chapter. Shotout to my Scorbus Buddy for being so amazing and so supportive (read her Scorbus fanfiction over on AO3 called "The Inevitable Fate" I promise you will not regret it!
