Rose remembered the endless months trying to get back to The Doctor, months of failure trying to get the dimension cannon to work, several injuries and bruises all over her a body when it failed on her, exploding in to a million pieces. But she never gave up, not ever. The one thing that kept her going throughout the months of trial and error was the thought of The Doctor. The thought of seeing him again, meeting him, and hugging him, having that one chance to hold his hand again. That was what kept her going.
Torchwood was a tiring job, the aliens and the danger; she never really found it fun, not without The Doctor, the companionship and the adrenaline. Now it was just a job, defending the Earth from the Universe's greatest threats. She never wanted the simple life, the ordinary everyday life. It was boring, everything about it bored her now, get up, go to work, come home, and go to bed. Just like everyone else. All she ever wanted was to travel again, or just be with The Doctor again.
She remembered the moment the dimension cannon began to work, the happiness and excitement Rose felt inside, her heart had never pounded so hard, the adrenaline began to run through her veins once again. She felt the thrill, and excitement of everything that had lead to that moment, meeting The Doctor again.
Of course, their 'reunion' wasn't quite what she had hoped for, looking in to his face as he died slowly, she could see a sense of happiness in his eyes, happy that she was there, that they were back as a duo once again, even if it was only for a short amount of time.
Now here she was, back on Pete's World with her very own Doctor, or John Smith as he was known to everyone else. But to Rose, he was The Doctor; it had taken her months to get used to him. To begin with she just saw him as a clone, someone who looked and acted like The Doctor, but deep down, he was just a human replica. She had thought that what made The Doctor unique and special was the fact that he was an alien, that he was different to everyone else. But that wasn't true. It was his personality, the way he looked after her and loved her, and every now and then he would take the mick out of her, and call her a 'dumb human' or an ape.
Their playful banter was there, even three years later, living on Pete's world. Rose touched the silver ring against her finger, and smiled to herself. Her Husband wasn't second best, he was the best, he had admitted his feelings towards her, and they'd accepted one another, they were equal now. Both of them were human, and living in a house, with a mortgage, and windows and carpets, and doors.
The life she led now was something she thought she never wanted, but all she wanted was The Doctor, in reality it didn't matter what they were doing, where they were, or what kind of lives they were living, as long as the two of them were together, as a team. Shiver and Shake. Mutt and Jeff. Batman and Robin. A duo, a partnership.
Rose rolled over to her side, staring at The Doctor, peacefully sleeping next to her, exhausted from the previous night of dancing and kissing, and making love. He was her Husband now; they really were a partnership, together forever.
After all the hard work Rose had done to get him back, she finally had her happy ending.
A/N; I know it was a bit short, but it was something that came in to my head, and I had to write. Hope you liked it. Let me know what you think!
