The Yearly 365 Challenge
Prompt #29 (AU) Catfish!AU
"Just don't." She spoke in a low hard voice as her eyes stared into her locker.
"I wasn't trying to …." He began.
Her body stiffened even more.
He sighed beside her. "I'm sorry that this happened to you." He wanted to put his hand on her; but he knew that she would rebuff him. "What can I do?"
"There isn't anything you can do. The damage is done." She spoke in a resigned tone. Her head turning to face him. "Don't you see the damage is all ready done Chic." She shook her head. "No words can fix this. No deeds."
Chic's eyes slanted. "I don't buy into that. You very well know that Pol." He looked at his younger sister. "I'm not going to let this pass." He spoke in a heated tone.
Slight fear entered Polly's eyes. "Chic …." She spoke in a soft low warning voice.
"Don't worry sis; I won't get into much trouble." Chic spoke with a snarl. "But I'm not going to let this pass."
Polly stepped closer to her brother. She searched his eyes. "Just don't go overboard please."
Chic nodded. His eyes lifted to scan the hallways of the school. His chest tightened as he saw more enemies in the hallways than usual. When he was here alone … it was all right; now that Polly has entered Riverdale High the danger grew. His soul was crushed when he thought of when Betty would be joining them. He would be able to project Betty for a year … then the last three years she will be on her own. Well not quite Polly will be here for two of them. But come Betty's Senior year she'll be alone. He knew he had to make it safe for both of his sisters before he graduated. Now was the time to step up. He looked back into his sister's eyes; "Now tell me everything about this 'Catfish' business."
"Not here." Polly sighed.
"Polly." Chic spoke in a warning tone.
"There isn't enough time. After school. We'll go somewhere more private. Then I can tell you without fear of being interrupted." Polly closed her locker door.
Chic sighed. "Okay." He looked meaningfully into his sister's eyes; "If you try to dish me Pol; then I will bring this up at home."
Raw fear entered Polly's eyes.
Chic folded his arms across his chest. He felt bad for the little blackmail that he laid at his sister's feet. But she had to know he was deeply serious here.
Polly lowered her eyes as she took a deep sigh. "Okay Chic." She finally gave up the hope that her brother would just let this go. Her eyes rose to met his. "Okay." She nodded. "But if it turns out that we need help then we tell dad."
Chic nodded. "That was my plan all along."
The bell rang.
The two Cooper siblings walked in opposite directions towards their classrooms.
