The Cat's Children

AN: Hey guys! I'm not dead! Amazing right? I'm finally writing the second part of this. I kind of took a break from writing fanfiction over the summer. So, let's get on to the story.

~Chapter 1~

"Kaede hurry up!" Hahru shouted. Kaede clumsily pushed way through the bramble bushes and thicket of weeds. "We're almost there!" Hahru said excitedly. Kaede glared up at her brother and puffed out her cheeks.

"Mommy told us to stay away from here because it's extremely dangerous." Kaede said; breathing heavily and glaring up at Hahru. He scoffed at her.

"What mommy doesn't know won't hurt her. She isn't home, and Yuki is asleep. We'll be fine okay? I won't let anything happen to us, I'm a man!" Hahru boasted. Kaede rolled her eyes. Her brother was such a little brat sometimes. Hahru pushed forwards through the trees and the weeds; ignoring the dirty looks his twin sister kept giving him each time he let a branch swing back and hit her. Hahru pushed through one more bush and stumbled out into a clearing; his sister followed suit except falling on her face that time. Kaede got up and dusted off her dress.

"Okay. You've seen the house. Now let's go home before we get in to serious trouble of an animal decides to attack." Kaede said in a worried tone, but her brother just laughed at her again. She was beginning to get angry with him.

"We'll be fine. I want to go in the house and see if we can find anything related to daddy or even daddy's body." Hahru said with a devious smile spread wide across his face. Kaede made a gagging noise and scowled at her brother. Hahru ignored her looks once again and ran off to the house. Kaede; begrudgingly; followed him into the house or what was left of the house. The entire left side of the 2-story building was in a charred heap on the ground. Kaede walked through the scorched hole in the wall in to what seemed to be an office. Sitting in the middle of the room was a charred desk. Kaede walked over and gently worked open the top drawer. The contents were 12 unharmed pictures. Without even looking at the Kaede scooped them up and stuck them in her pocket. She investigated the rest of the drawers and found nothing else of interest. Suddenly there was a loud CRASH! BOOM! Then absolute silence.

"Hahru… I think we should leave now…" Kaede said. No answer. "Hahru… Please answer me… Please…" Kaede begged into the silence "HAHRU PLEASE!" She screamed. "I'M GOING TO GET YUKI!" She shouted. She dashed out of the burned house and into the forest sobbing the whole way.
