Severus' Son

Severus rocked his son in his arms, gently swaying back and forth. He'd been awakened by the baby's cries and went to his room to find him wide awake, staring at him from the crib. Severus sang to his baby boy, being careful not to be too loud and awaken his husband. Harry was exhausted, his face pale and tiered looking even in sleep. The pregnancy had been very difficult on his body and he wasn't recovering as fast as Severus would have liked.

Severus noticed the baby had fallen back to sleep and put Jamie back into the crib. He returned slowly to his bed and climbed in next to his husband. Harry rolled over, facing him in his sleep. Severus wanted to run a hand down his lover's face, but was too afraid of waking the young man, so he settled on watching him sleep.

Severus never thought he'd love anyone after loosing Lily, but low and behold, her son had won over his heart. Perhaps he should have felt some sense of guilt (after all, he'd once loved the man's mother), but life had been difficult long enough. He'd accepted Harry and by doing so, accepted himself. He loved Harry no matter whose son he was. Even James and Lily Potter's.
