The Devilishly Dashing Baronet

By: Vanessa Sgroi

Using pomp and priss, I smile wide.
Behind this inane laugh, I hide.
Never sure what might betide
To ensure Madame Guillotine is denied.

Adopting a devil-may-care, foppish stride,
And a cravat that is exceptionally perfectly tied.
With a cunning wit, just short of snide,
I blend in easily as time I bide.

Life-saving secrets within reside
As I do my damnedest to misguide.
When heroics and revolution do collide
The League stands firm—all allied.

While terror doth over all preside,
In disguise we come, fear cast aside,
To where the accused huddle somber-eyed,
A symbol of faith and hope supplied.
