It was noon and our five pilots were waiting for the sixth pilot. Duo looked up at the clock. "It's noon. Should be here by now," he grumbled. He was bored and everyone else was busy. He heard a knock at the door and was the first to reach the door.
Duo quickly opened the door and his jaw dropped. "Let the new pilot in Duo," Quatre said. Duo just stood there so Quatre opened the door wider. He also stared in shock. There in front of the five pilots, stood a six year old child.
"That's our new pilot!?" Wufei cried out.
"No, I'm your new pilot," a young man said as he came behind the little girl. "My hame's Arashi and this here is Nami."
"And who is she?" Wufei demanded.
"Look, I know you don't want her here, I don't wither, but I have to. She's my daughter," Arashi said. "I would have left her somewhere more safe, but I didn't want to risk anything, so I brought her with me."
"That's your daughter!?" Duo said. Arashi nodded. Nami, who was extremely bored of this conversation, tugged at her father's pants.
"I'm hungry daddy," she said. She stared at him with big innocent eyes of a child in which she was.
"You'll have to wait a while Nami. Daddy's got a lot to do."
"Well, she can come with me and I can get her some cookies," Quatre said.
"Could you? I don't want her in the way of the big boxes and stuff," Arashi said.
"It'll be fine." Arashi gently nudged his daughter towards Quatre.
"Behave now."
"Okay daddy." Arashi then left with Heero to go to the hangar. Wufei went to his room to meditate and Duo and Trowa left.
"Okay, Nami. This is the kitchen. Sit down and I'll get you some cookies." Nami sat down and looked around at her surroundings as Quatre got out the cookies. "Here we go. You like sugar cookies?" Nami nodded her head eagerly. Quatre set a plate of cookies in front of her as well as a cup of milk.
"Arigato Quatre-san," Nami said. She then took a cookie and chomped on it happily. Quatre was filled with joy as he looked at the cute display in front of him. He studied her and noticed something familiar about her, but he couldn't put his finger on it. *I wonder who the mother is*
Duo then came into the room. "So how's the kid?"
"See for yourself."
"Aw, she's kawaii." Nami looked up from her cookies and beamed.
"Arigato Duo-san,"
"She even has manners," Quatre said. "Something you should learn."
"Nah," Duo said with a dismissive wave of his hand. "Say, can I have a cookie?"
"Duo, you're not supposed to have sugar."
"Yeah but-"
"Remember what happened last time."
"Just one?"
"No." Nami giggled at their argument and threw a cookie at Duo. Duo blinked in surprise.
"No fight," Nami said. Duo stuck out his tongue and ate the cookie she threw. Nami giggled again. She finish the rest of her cookies and drank her milk. "Where the bathroom?"
"I'll take her," Duo said to Quatre. Quatre nodded and Duo turned to Nami. "Ya want a piggy back ride?"
"Hai!" Nami ran over to Duo, but then stopped. She ran to Quatre and gave him a hug. "Arigato for the cookies Uncle Quatre!" Then she ran to Duo and clambered onto his back. Quatre couldn't help but grin at the little girl.
So soon as Duo and Nami were out of Quatre's sight, Nami tapped Duo. He stopped. "Yeah?"
"Cookie," she said. She held out a cookie to him and he took it with a grin.
"You know, I think we'll get along just great."
Not much happening in the first chapter but it gets better. *looks around* You'll find out who the mother is in the next chapter. Hehehehe.
