Screaming, echoing in my ears,
an explosion,
and the screaming suddenly stopped.
The stench of burning flesh,
is not foreign to my senses.
I cover my face in my hands,
tears forming in my eyes.
I caused those screams,
I caused that explosion,
I caused all of those deaths.
I wander aimlessly,
a shadow covers my face.
I cannot see where I'm going,
but I don't care,
I'll go where I'm meant to be.
Whether that be life or death,
I'm ready to accept it.
I stumbled,
and fall into the dank mud,
it smears across my war-torn face.
I slowly rise from the ground,
and see what I tripped over.
A body...no two,
a mother and child,
burned to death,
most likely alive.
That is what happens here,
no one survives.
Even if you live,
your soul has already died in the battle.
So many innocent lives destroyed,
I have done it all.
I can still hear the screaming
of all my victims,
they will never leave my mind,
I will forever hear them.
They remind me of what I've done,
who I've killed.
I continue to walk,
searching, searching for my weapon.
I long to find it,
but I know that when I do,
more destruction will be caused.
I wander in a daze,
not really noticing where I'm going,
what's happening around me,
they do not matter.
I'm on a quest,
I must find it.
My life would not be complete,
without all of the pain,
the killing, the destruction,
the loss.
I will always be searching,
even after I find it.
I must follow my path,
no matter where it leads me.
No matter who I kill,
no matter what I destroy,
my fate, my destiny,
will always lead me in the same direction.
I walk into a field,
or was once a field, now full of bodies, weapons, death.
I know I'm getting close,
I can feel the death,
I can feel my soul.
Past the field,
into the trees.
It's calling to me,
and into the distance,
I see it.
Closer, closer I get,
walking, jogging, now running,
I must get to it.
I'm almost there,
almost to my home, my life.
I need everything that comes with this,
I am a soldier,
nothing more.
There is the weapon,
standing in front of me.
A mirror I see,
the weapon I become,
my life is now complete.
