The Broken Oath
Exiled to an island, she wait's alone,
She tends to her garden where flowers just bloomed,
A lone sailor arrives at shore and she thinks,
"Must have been marooned."
He desperately calls for help,
She ran to him with curiosity,
She takes him to her cave and nursed him back to health,
As he sits on the ground he thanks her for her generosity.
She asks him for his story
He shares and asks her for hers.
She tells her story and bursts to tears,
All her surroundings turn to blurs.
She says she regrets her choices,
And he knows this is not a lie.
She begins to love him when he want's to go,
Giving her another reason to cry.
She sees an empty raft appear in the distance,
She begs him not to leave.
She tells herself that she will forget,
But even to her it's hard to believe.
He leaves the next day without saying goodbye,
She believes she will never love and feel the pain,
Yet when another came and left,
Her heart shattered once again.
Then one day another came,
But he was different from the others.
He seemed to actually care about her,
But she feared that he would go away too, just like all his brothers.
One day he told her he needed to leave,
She cried as she stared into the flame.
He promised one day he would come back,
But back he never came.
