Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a world where lives did not begin with 'once upon a time.' Where happy endings were not guaranteed and if you wanted to leave that 'tallest tower', well, you rescued yourself. There was no 'knight in shining armor' coming to save you from whatever danger you managed to find yourself in. No. This girl lived in a world of self-rescuing princess.

Her name, as you may be wondering, is Rose. And Rose is everything a princess should be; beautiful, kind- well, perhaps slightly rude on occasion, but kind none the less-, and of course, as in every story of this nature, trapped in a place that is not where she wants to be. It might not be a tower, and it might not be a prison, but she is trapped with the laws of the universe as the dragon curled at the towers base, the walls between the universes as formidable as any boundary wall. And Rose has long since given up hope that her knight will come because he told her, just before he disappeared from her universe that "it's impossible. You can never see me again. I'm sorry. So, so sorry."

Then again, when has 'impossible' ever stopped her?
