"You're -- you're back!"

"It certainly appears that way, yes."

Remus's face was a picture of shock. His shabby hair collected a little more neatly around his face and his robes fresh from patches. His face was still a little sunken and his cheeks a little flushed, but as his eyes widened and his lips parted, gaping at Sirius, none of it seemed to register.

"But -- but you're really back!"

Sirius laughed, a low rumble in the back of his throat as he took a steady step towards him.

"I think we just covered that."

He looked a lot better than he had the last time Remus had seen him, that was for sure. Dressed in clean-pressed robes with his jaw looking more square and dignant than it had in years; a two-o-clock shadow just grazing the bottom of his chin.

He looked at Remus as he parted his lips, contemplating - quite obviously - speaking again. His hand was stretched out before him hesitantly, gripping a fist of air before relaxing his fingers and reaching for -- for -- something.

"I -- you --" he started, but Sirius interrupted with a huge smile.

"You tell me I'm back one more time and I'll just turn around and leave again. I'm sure the dementors will be glad to have me."

At least that got a better reaction.

"De -- Dementors?" Remus hissed softly. Looking mortified.

"I -- I'd rather not talk about that right now, you know?" Sirius shrugged, and opened his arms wide, "So -- pleased to see me?"

"You know I am."

Remus's grin maybe even outshone Sirius's then, as the next thing either of them knew, they were pressed together in a hug so tight their breathing was nothing more than gasps of air, forced from their lungs.

"I was so worried," Remus whispered quietly, as if he wished he hadn't spoken at all, their cheeks brushing as their hands grabbed fistfuls of material, refusing to let go.

"I know," Sirius muttered back, letting his lips press just barely against Remus's neck, smiling, "I was too."
