She rolled her eyes again as she watched Izzie cry at some Lifetime movie. They had been watching movies since they started their summer break and Meredith was bored of it. She needed to go outside and find something to do. She looked back over at Izzie.

" Let's go do something. We have been sitting for hours." Meredith stated

Izzie sighed " Well what is there to do? I mean we can't fly anywhere and no one is in town."

" Stupid Christina for going to college early and Alex, I think he was going to his dad's." She huffed

" I know, He suddenly showed back up in Alex's life and wanted to get to know him. Weird."

Meredith kept thinking of things to do. They could go to the lake, but the stop where they stayed was grown over, so that was out of the picture. Derek, they could go visit Derek in New York City. That was it.

" I know, let's go see Derek and Mark!" She yelled

Izzie was silent " That's not a bad idea, why not it's only a couple of hours away and we haven't seen then since Spring Break. Come on let's pack!" She jumped off teh couch dashing upstairs

" Izzie your stuff is at your house!" She giggled

Izzie came running down the stairs laughing and looking dumb.

" Thanks, so be ready in an hour?"

" Yea meet me out front, we will take my car."

Meredth locked the door after Izzie left and went into her mother's office and wrote her a quick note on a piece of paper.

Iz and I went to New York City to visit Derek and Mark, be gone about two weeks. Call cell if needed. You probably won't see this for a couple of days so I will date it. 6-12-08. Oh and I took the other credit card, the blue one not the green one.

She went to up her room and started going through her two closets pulling out clothes and throwing them in her bag. She grabbed her toothbrush, body lotion, razor, deodarant and other essentials.

" So you ready for the road trip?" Meredith shouted from her porch

" This is going to be fun. Let's go!" Izzie threw her bag in the back of the SUV and climbed in the passenger seat. Meredith buckled her seat belt and started the car, making sure the Clash cd was playing as she backed out of the driveway.

" I can't wait to see Derek, I have missed him so much." She babbled

" When are you guys going to go out? I mean you have been friends for twelve years and flirty since high school."

" Derek and I are, well we are us. I mean there was this time when I like him, but I'm afraid to ruin the friendship."

Izzie cut her off " Mer I think the feelings between you two are mutial. I see the way you two are, it's cute!"

" I know, okay so should I text Derek or are we just going to suprise him?" She glanced over

" Uhm why don't you call him when we get into New York."

" Okay, oh hey is that my phone beeping? Will you check it?"

Izzie grabbed her phone out of its holder and it showed one text message, she opened it.

Derek Cell

Hey haven't heard from you in two days. What you don't miss me anymore? I'm sad babe.

Izzie giggled " Speak of the devil, he hasn't heard from you in two days, don't you miss him?"

" Tell him I miss him with all my heart and im sending him hugs." Meredith laughed

" Okay see right there, you two are meant to be. Please what normal guy just text messages out of the blue?" Izzie rolled her eyes

" He's the greatest, I don't know what I would do without Derek, he's my rock." She murmured

The ride got quiet as Meredith was lost in thought. She felt stupid to have all these feelinsg for Derek, she couldn't mess up what they had. That was the only relationship that was going strong. She sighed as she drove to New York. Maybe this trip would open her eyes and finally settle her mind on what she wanted.
