The Impala was on its side, engine smoking, the gravel road littered with the weapons from the trunk which had popped open during the crash.
Sam could hear Dean screaming in his head to gather the weapons, that they couldn't afford the hefty bill that would come with losing them or the heat that could come down if the wrong person found them.
But all Sam could focus on was the slow rise and fall of Dean's chest bouncing against his palm.
"Come on, Dean. Wake up," said Sam as he gently stroked his brother's face, avoiding the bloody gash across his cheek and the blossoming bruise on his forehead. His hands ghosted over his brother's torso, feeling the stiffness of Dean's abdomen, the stickiness of an oozing cut on his hip and the smoothness of bone sticking out from a horrendous break in his arm.
"Dean, please," Sam begged, tousling his brother's hair.
Dean's only response was to keep breathing.
The sound of a car approaching spurred Sam to action. He gave Dean an awkward hug before carefully settling him on the pavement.
"I'm just gonna flag this car down, man. Be right back. Promise, I'll be right back."
That's All Folks!
Note: So last week, I realized my dream of self-publishing my first (of many, I hope) e-book over on Amazon dot com. If you're so interested, check out my profile page for a link and further info. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of my fan fiction readers that have been so wonderful over the years. Thanks so much for reading and giving me another place to call home. I never could've taken the next step without you.
