Cross-title Continuity
(This takes place slowly after the Imperial Arc in New X-Men. For the sake of my own plot devices, I'm assuming the Shi'ar Imperial Guard gets slaughtered next issue)
So, I've heard a lot of people bitching about how Chris Claremont routinely makes references to New X-Men in his book, but Grant Morrison makes no such attempts to do so about Xtreme X-Men. Well, after reading this, hopefully you guys will realize that this might not be such a bad thing after all…
Wolverine: Goddamn Shi'ar, well glad that's over.
Emma: Indeed, it was a royal pain in my backside trying to scrape Gladiator off the driveway.
Cyclops: Yeah. [Turns on TV] Hey, what the hell??
Jean: Hmm, seems to be an alien invasion thingy going on in Madripor.
Wolverine: Yeah, [mock fear] they might kill my poor little Viper.
[Laughter]
TV Reporter: What's that John? Hmm, it appears that though the Avengers can't get to the islands, satellite footage shows that another super team is on the scene. Here's the footage now.
[Images of Xtreme flash across the screen]
Emma: Oh bloody hell.
Xorn: What's wrong?
Cyclops: Well, a few months ago a bunch of our members decided to desert on us and form their own group to do... something I forget.
Wolverine: Yeah I told them I'd remain their contact, but damned if I can get that damn e-mail to work so I'm just assuming they haven't sent anything.
Emma: Who's that new blond piece of ass, and that girl too?
Jean: Oh yeah, Storm mentioned something about that before this whole mess started. A Lifesaver or something with the girl, and the guy was Storm's little boy toy... though now he's wearing a uniform. Guess he's a mutant after all.
Xorn: Is it really that common?
Jean: I didn't think so, but maybe that Sage chick they brought with them had something to do with it.
Cyclops: [muffled with his hand] Thank god for that.
Jean: Honey you're in the presence of two of the most powerful minds on the planet, and three once the professor wakes back up, do you really think no one heard that?
Cyclops: Oh give me a break... so you guys wanna take a pool on their odds?
Wolverine: Eh, Stormie'll get out of this.
Emma: [evil look] Though it might be interesting to see them lose for a change.
Cyclops: They got Psylocke killed!
Jean: [To herself, sarcastic] Yeah, what a tragedy.
Cyclops: Now who's keeping secrets?
Jean: Shut up!
Cyclops: You shut up!
[Arguing ensues. Emma and Wolverine secretly give each other thumbs up]
Xorn: Maybe it isn't too late to go back to the monastery...
