"Hey, Italy, what's the matter, you've staring outside the window for quite a while now, something on your mind?"
He turned at the mention of his name, eye's opened for once and turned back looking out
"Yeah, but it's nothing that you need to concern yourself with, Germany"
He sighed, rubbing his temple and stood beside him
"Italy, I know when something is on your mind and this is clearly bothering you" he put his hand on his shoulder "tell me; what is it? I'm your friend, you can tell me anything"
Feli sighed, knowing that he wasn't going to get out of this
"I was just remembering my first love and the times we had together" he said with a tone of longing in his voice, he laughed "you know Germany? It's been over a thousand years since I fell in love with him, and yet, I can't love anyone like I loved him, I've tried to fill the void by surrounding myself with the women that you see me goofing around with….but….it's never enough….the silly expression you see masks the pain that I feel everyday…"
"Why didn't you tell me this Italy?" he looked at him "because I didn't want to bother you with it, it's my burden to bare, not yours" "but friends help with that burden, even if it's just a little bit don't you understand that?" He blinked owlishly "I do…" he started to cry "you know Germany? Every time I look at you, I see him….you have the same eye's that he had, the same baby blue eyes that hold that softness despite your intimidating aura, and your smile…." His voice started to crack "it makes me believe that he's right here beside me and it makes life easier to bare…that's how much you resemble him"
He sat down beside him "He wasn't a human, was he? You know they don't live forever"
"No, from an early age when I was a young country, I was taught not to fall in love with them, because you would only suffer in the end…..yet, it's funny even though I followed through on their words, I'm suffering in my chest, is this what humans call heartache? It hurts… I hate it…."
"Feliciano…" Germany started to say but was cut off
"I wish you were him, I really do!" he clung to his shirt, tears falling freely down his face "why…why must we suffer like this, why must fate take him away! He didn't do anything wrong! He was fighting for his country!" he hiccupped "WHY GERMANY, WHY!" he had no words to say, pulling him into a comforting embrace, rubbing his back in a soothing manner and started counting softly
"One sheep…two sheep…three sheep…" Italy slowly stopped crying and listened to his voice as it reverberated deep in his chest, it was deep, but gentle, 'just like holy Rome's voice' he thought
"Four sheep...five sheep…high in the sky… on a thick and fluffy bed…away from the harms that would hurt me and you…" he continued humming the tune as Italy fell asleep
Standing outside the door was Prussia, who heard everything and shook his head sadly "West…so you still don't remember him?..." "Gott verdammt es, why can't I bring myself to tell him that he's who Italy's been waiting for…." He blinked the tears away "Gott…why…it would be too much for him to take… Little bruder…remember soon….and come back to him…" and left…walking down the hall
Gott verdammt es:meaning god damn it
Sorry for a cheesy ending with Prussia
