Fifteen-year-old Jim Hawkins was almost always depressed. Why was he this way? It was because when he was eight-years-old, his father, Leland, walked out on the family, leaving Jim and his mother, Sarah, all alone.
Jim had never been the same since then. He started failing in school. He was often in trouble. When Sarah tried to talk to her son, Jim was like a stranger to her.
Jim's behavior steamed from that he thought his dad's departure was all his fault. All of his life, Jim had strived for his dad's love, approval, attention and adoration. When Leland left, Jim felt sad that he didn't receive these things from him.

Little did Jim suspect that his life was about to change for the better. It would give him two priceless things: gold and self-confidence. It would be a chance for Jim to fulfill a childhood dream. He was going to find Captain Nathaniel Flint's secret trove. The loot of a thousand worlds. Treasure Planet.
