AN: Okay, so the idea just popped into my head and I really wanted to get this down so don't hate on it so far. Elrond and Celebrian adopt and elfling that isn't a hundred percent elven. The tiny elfling struggles to find her place in the elven world and into her new family.

Prologue

The valley was quiet as the Captain of the Rivendell guard sat in his perch. He was able to see everything from afar just from that spot. That meant that he could make out any intruder. With it being in the dead of winter and clear, that would not be a problem for him.

Meanwhile, a lone figure crept silently through the woods, alone and abandoned. She had not heard a kind word ever in her life, not even from her own parents. The figure was an elfling with jet black hair that had blue shine to it in the light. She wore nothing but a tattered old dress and was trying to find some shelter. She did not know where she was, all she knew was that she was cold and scared.

Just then, her foot slipped and she went tumbling down a hill. She screamed, terrified of falling off the edge of the cliffs nearby.

Meanwhile, Glorfindel heard the scream of a child down on the forest floor. He could tell that she near the cliff and had to move quickly or the child would fall to their death. The warrior jumped from the tree and on to the floor below. Once back on the ground, he took off running to save the child.

When he reached the child, nothing would prepare him for what he found. Clinging to the edge of the cliff was an elfling with grey eyes that had a faint red ring around them. He gasped, shocked to see that the elfling was half vampire. Glorfindel pulled the child up, shocked and disgusted by the very thought of whoever the monster was also the child's parent.

The tiny elfling caught the eldar's stare and turned away. Her eyes had given her away again. Any hope that she would have a home or family of her own had now diminished. She could only imagine what would happen now.

"What is your name, little one?" Glorfindel asked, noticing her fear. "Arianna." She replied, shaking. "Why are you out here alone instead of with your nana and ada?" He asked. "They no want me…I monster." Arianna replied, frowning at the memory. "No, you are just different…whoever told you that was wrong." Glorfindel replied, kneeling before the child.

When he looked at her, he noticed she had dark circles under her eyes and she had almost no fat on her what so ever. She looked as if she had not eaten in days if not longer. Her clothing was nothing but rags at this point and she had bruising and blisters all over her body. Glorfindel also noticed the blood that covered her foot.

"You should come with me little one. I know someone who can take care of that cut on your foot." Glorfindel said. Arianna looked at him, fearful. "It no hurts, promise." She replied, trying to avoid going. "Are you scared, little one?" Glorfindel asked, noticing her fear. "Yes…elves no like me…they say I have no place." She said, tears suddenly spilling from her grey eyes.

Glorfindel, the famed Balrog slayer was rendered speechless as he watched the child. If he ever found the elf that told her that, he or she would not like him very much.

"Whoever told you that is lying…here in Rivendell you are safe." Glorfindel told her, gently lifting her into his arms.

He slowly made his way back to the last homely house with the tiny elfling in his arms. He could only hope that she would find peace there.

AN: I know I left everyone hanging, but I will explain more about Arianna in the coming chapters
