Rose sat on the jump seat in the TARIDS's control room watching the Doctor as he moved around pushing buttons and pulling levers. She had no idea what he was doing, but she couldn't stop watching. He was the most fascinating person she had ever met, and she couldn't take her eyes off him. It was like she was afraid that if she looked away, he would disappear, that he and all the wonderful things she had experienced in the last few hours would fade away like a good dream.
Suddenly, he looked up at her with piercing blue eyes. "Rose," he said, "you should get some sleep. You look exhausted."
She shook her head like stubborn child, unwilling to leave. "No, I'm not."
He frowned, but she still noticed the way his eyes softened. "Really, Rose. You need to rest. I understand that this all feels like a dream to you - I've heard it before - but I promise I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be here when you wake up."
He smiled at her, and it was contagious. She couldn't help but return the gesture as she hopped down from her seat. "All right. I suppose I can't argue with a Time Lord."
"Darn right you can't," he said with a grin, pointing through an archway behind him. "Your room is right through there, second door on the left."
"Thanks," she said as she headed toward it. "Good night, Doctor."
"Good night, Rose."
