Okay, I know this isn't a story but before you all get angry at me please understand… I am not here to spam you guys, I personally as a fan of Horton, the McDodd's and their wonderful worlds think that we have a bit of a problem here.

I know we are all Horton fans and that's great, but how many of you here know that he has a girl? That's right; Horton the Elephant has a romantic interest. Her name is Gertrude McFuzz and she is featured in "Seussical". If you guys know who she is and details about her then go on down to the text under the line, if not, please read the information about Gertrude below.

Gertrude McFuzz is a sweet shy bluebird and Horton's next door neighbor who, in the play Seussical falls head over heels in love with him when she notices what a big heart he has. But, since she only has a one feather tail she thinks he's not gonna like her, so, she goes to a nearby doctor and makes her tail super big, to no avail, Horton STILL doesn't notice her. And to make matters worse, when his clover is put in that large field and he is taken away, Gertrude is unable to save him because her tail is too big to allow her to fly. But amazingly enough, after she gets most of the tail removed so she's back to the one feather tail she manages to find Horton's clover, find him and save him (See my profile for more information about the horrible things she goes through on her journey to save him.) which, luckily for her, causes him to finally realize how amazing she is. When his egg hatches and Morton the Elephant Bird is born, the two decide to become an official couple and raise him together in order to give him a proper upbringing.

Ok, now that we all know who Gertrude is, I will share the fact I found… out of the two hundred plus stories in both the "Horton Hears a Who" and "Seussical" sections on this website, not ONE of them has Gertrude in it. And even though She's only in one of the seven media's that Horton is in, she's still his girl and it's a real shame that she is not featured in any of these stories… so, here's my idea. I am going to start showing Gertrude to other Seuss fans that don't know who she is! My first movement is putting this notice in both the "Horton Hears a Who" and "Seussical" sections, but that's not where I am going to stop, I am also going to be writing a story featuring Gertrude to put on both of these sections AND I will make a board in both of the section's forums as well. Hopefully some of the others of you will also take part and help as well. Gertrude is Horton's girl and as such should be as well known as he is, my mission "Operation Notice Me Fandom" is to expose her to other fans… hopefully I will be able to get a few helpers along the way! You can help by writing your own stories with Gertrude in them, keeping the Gertrude Boards running, telling people we meet both online and in real life about her and finding Seuss themed websites that mention Horton but not her and adding her in. Trust me, if we work hard enough, we can let people know about sweet little Gertrude McFuzz and she won't be such a little known character anymore.
