A Trumpet Player's Mind
I am a Trumpet player
I wonder what goes through people's mind when I play
I hear the song What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
I see the soft beautiful glow of my trumpet in the light
I want to be the best I can be when I play
I am a Trumpet player
I pretend to be a professional player playing in front of thousands of people
I feel the coolness of the mouthpiece when I press it to my lips
I touch the smooth surface of the bell of my trumpet
I worry about if I will still be a trumpet player when I grow up
I cry when I play a slow pretty song
I am a Trumpet player
I understand that I can't play a lot without my lips going numb
I say, patience is a virtue and you're going to really need patience to be a trumpet player
I dream of playing with Angels
I try to play the best I can
I hope that one day I can outplay the upperclassmen in my band
I am a Trumpet player
