Annabeth Chase was worried.
Her boyfriend Percy Jackson, known to her as Seaweed Brain, had mysteriously not turned up for a kind of date near the pool. He never ever forgot stuff like this. Something had had happened to him, she was sure of that.
She would have liked to talk to Chiron, but she was certain that he would not appreciate the fact that she and Percy had decided to meet up as early as 7:00 AM to discuss the very sensitive topic of Olympus going silent. They both felt that something very suspicious was going on, so they decided that they simply must have a chat without the hustle bustle of Camp.
But now it looked like the strangeness was increasing, and Annabeth did not believe that the best plan of action was waiting about, as Chiron had suggested whenever the Campers questioned him.
And now Percy had disappeared, and Annabeth did not know what to do. In couple of hours, his absence would be known, but Annabeth knew well that much could have happened by then. She wondered for a fleeting second if he could possibly be asleep, but it was nearly impossible. Kelp Head though he was, Percy would not ever keep her waiting. Annabeth had known him for long enough to be sure of that.
Eventually she resolved to talk to Chiron whatever the consequences were. Percy was far too important to her to care about the centaur's displeasure. And this disappearance confirmed ONE thing. Chiron had been lying when he said all was normal.
There was something very odd going on and the Daughter of Athena wasn't going to rest till she found out exactly what it was. Or till she had her boyfriend back.
