He twiddled his fingers rapidly around the string as he tied it around the brightly wrapped gift.
"Doctor, What's he doing?" Clara asked in a whisper.
"He's tying the present in what is known as, a matrimonial knot" the Doctor replied.
"What's one of those when it's at home?" she pondered to her husband of now around two hours
"Well, once he is finished tying it, he hands it to the newlywed couple, in this case, us. We then have to untie it, buuut" there never was a straight answer with him was there Clara thought to herself "How ever long it takes us to untie the matrimonial knot in minutes that's how long our marriage will last in years" he finished with a smile
"Little harsh even for you aliens" Clara said, a little awestruck by the concept of a knot that predicts the length of you marriage.
"Only a little" The Doctor replied with a shrug, unfazed.
"I won't untie the knot" Clara declared with an air of finality
"Why not love?" the Doctor asked worridly "It's tradition"
"Sorry, but screw tradition," she announced " I will nit untie that blasted knot as I wish to stay married to you forever."
"Well, The knot had too much power anyway" the Doctor said, going along with Clara. They DANCED the entire night only stopping briefly to dispose of the knot and it's terrible predictions.
