Shouts echoed down the narrow streets.
"This way!"
He'd been spotted! Desperately, Jack looked about.
Spying a door, he darted inside.
A gasp erupted when he entered. Of all places to hide, he groaned inwardly staring at the occupants.
It simply must do; he had no time. Dashing across the room, he grabbed some clothing. Donning it quickly, he joined the startled ranks of others in the room as they began to file in procession, nervously watching him. Wondering, when suddenly the doors burst open and soldiers entered.
Closing ranks as understanding came, they effectively sheltered him.
"Not in here," One soldier declared staring at the cluster of nuns.
