Roy sat down on the ledge of the balcony and looked up the sky, his eyes started to water but his eyes did not waiver from the iridescent stars and pale moon as he whispered to them.
'Speak softly love so no one hears us but the sky…'
He reached out beside him and picked up his bottle Moet champagne and laughed as he drank it down recalling what Ed had told him once about him being an expensive drunk.
When he put the champagne back down he wiped the excess off his lips, tasting the salty sweet mixture of his tears and the Moet. He thought back to how Ed would always be there to tell him enough was enough, and take it away from him.
'The vows of love we make will live until we die…'

It had been their first time together and Roy was drunk but not stupid and had not wanted to go any further than a few kisses but Ed's body practically screamed out for him. He'd been careful not to hurt him as they made love, showering kisses down his neck as he moved inside him.

In the last throws when Ed had whispered in breathlessness that he loved him and would always be forever and Roy had allowed a single tear to shed as vowed the same to Ed.

Laying beside him, Ed kissed his tear and told him, never again would he have to look for love in the bottom of a liquor bottle , because it would always be beside him. And for the years that came after it Roy had believed him…

'my life is yours, and all because…'

Riza searched for Roy in his house, and couldn't seem to find him, he hadn't been seen for months now and she was now way passed worried. She saw him sitting carelessly on the balcony edge and the gleam of the moon off the bottle of Moet caught her eye.
"Oh Roy…" she said pushed open the glass door. "Come to bed Roy, it's almost three in the morning." Hawk eye whispered to him grabbing his empty hand and attempting to get him down.

"But he promised me Riza." Roy said while a fresh line of tears came, "He said he'd always be here… and now he's-" Roy leaned into Riza's shoulders and cried, "He's gone. He left me…. Didn't he know how much…that I -" he didn't finish his sentence. Riza wrapped her arms around him and tried to sooth him telling him he would be alright, even she herself couldn't find the words to even attempt to help him.

So she just guided him back into his house and helped him to his room.
She opened the door and saw pictures of the two on every inch of the walls and bottles of champagne strewn about the floor. She kicked a few out of the way as he helped him towards the bed. He lay down on top of the cover and reached underneath his pillow and pulled out a picture frame.

Riza didn't have to guess whose frozen smile it was in the frame as she pulled off his boots and threw them the nearby corner, she turned back around to Roy, "Do you need anything before I go?"

Roy wasn't listening he had the picture clutched to his chest and was fast asleep. She found his military coat peeping from underneath the bed and covered him with it. She leaned over Roy grabbed the picture from him and was about to whisper to him that it was time to let him go.

When she took a good look at the picture in hand, it was Roy standing behind Ed with a genuine smile on his and Riza could count on her hands how many times she's actually see that same smile, she looked at Ed who had his lips pressed to Roy's cheek and his arms overlapping Roy's as he clung to him.

'Who am I am to tell him when to let go…' Riza thought then placed the frame on the pillow beside Roy and walked out.

You came into my world with love,
So softly love.

The song is Speak Softly Love aka Godfather Theme (type it in on YouTube, you'll find it.) I want ya'll to make your own assumptions about what happened to Ed.
