Different from anything I've done before, especially since it isn't blatantly John/Teyla.

Disclaimer: I don't own Stargate Atlantis or any of the characters

The ground crunched beneath them and she could tell from years of hunting that they were walking on a worn game trail. It could be a good thing, maybe it would make it easier for the others to find them. She cannot be sure and she finds herself too occupied on trying to get a sense of her bearings to think about rescue. Somehow she will get them out.

Hands shove her down and her palms skid across the floor with the force of it. Scraping, bleeding over the rough surface. Knees forming bruises. She makes no sound but she can hear Rodney let out a grunt of pain. The blindfold is welcomed if it means she doesn't have to see his face.

Her unwillingness to break infuriates them and she is fine with it as long as it means they don't move on to the scientist. She can withstand it. He would not be able to. She can handle spitting out blood onto the stone floor; she can handle biting back the screams. Because of this she almost wishes that it were John or Ronon being held down next to her. Because they could take it and then she would not have to keep taunting their tormentors.

There is a hint of resentment, she can feel it rising within her but she rushes to crush it. It is not Rodney's fault. He was built for calculations and quick thinking. Besides, she would rather feel her own pain than hear his.

They figure out what she was doing and there is nothing she can do to stop them from discharging a weapon into Rodney's leg. However, there is something she can do when she finally frees herself from her restraints. The weapon echoes until it is empty.

When they come staggering through the Gate, Rodney says thank you over and over to her until Dr. Keller forces him on a gurney.

John does not touch her though he looks as if he wants to. She squeezes his hand and he gives her a smile before ordering her to the infirmary.

Later, Rodney hugs her and despite the pain of pressure on her bruised skin, she lets him. The pain means that they are both alive. She can withstand it.
