Is this really, like, one of the only Epic fanfics on this site? Oh, ok...

Seeing as this was written before the movie even came out, you'll need to excuse canonical errors.

All too real, huh? The Leafmen, I mean. Y'know, the guardians of the forest? No, you've never heard of them?

Well, they're real. I should know; I mean, I've been as tiny as them for a whole day now.

I thought back on the day. It was incredible how easily everything had changed, and I had discovered the forest's best kept secret: tiny, little people. I remember Nod, and the beautiful woman among the lilies, Tara. But mostly Nod.

It had been too long of the day, and I still felt so small. If I had just stayed put, if I hadn't moved my feet, I wouldn't be in this mess, nor would I be bite sized. I shivered; what if Ozzie found me and ate me? Or an owl? Or—

I cried out as I slipped out of the hammock, barely managing to grip it in time. The Leafmen slept in, well, leaf hammocks, and while they were comfortable, they were narrow.

I heard a soft humming, and saw him on a hummingbird, flying towards me. "Need a hand, M.K.?" Nod asked over the sound of beating wings.

"Yeah, I kind of don't want to fall five hundred feet," I squeaked, before remembering it wasn't even five feet. Grumbling, my cheeks grew heated, and Nod hopped onto my leaf. He hoisted me up again.

My arm tingled where he had grasped it.

"Better?" he said.

"Suppose so," I responded, looking anywhere but at him. "Guess I'm a little too… human."

He laughed. "Guess so!" Holding a wooden whistle to his lips, he blew, and the hummingbird swooped down by him. He dove onto its back and grabbed hold of the reigns. "I'll see you tomorrow morning! Don't forget about your audience with Tara!"

"I won't!" I called back, my voice faltering as I realized I was out of earshot. I sighed. Was it a problem that I wasn't a tiny little plant person? I knew he was pretty cute, yeah, but how could two completely different... species possibly be compatible? Or was I just ugly? I ran my fingertips over my face to check for bumps, but my skin was relatively smooth. Why didn't he like me?

After a couple minutes, I decided my plan was sort of to take off the next morning before Nod came to wake me. I would travel back to dad, and he would try to fix me. Sure, this world is completely epic, with all its mysteries and beauty, but think about it... What would a Leafman or woman among the lilies want with me?
