The Captain's Diary

Disclaimer: I do not own Star Trek (wish I did) though I might have been in an episode once. A/N: Hey people! This fic is supposed to take place during the first seasons. I thought it might be interesting to see Janeway's thoughts. I might do a sequel if begged enough. Also, since the dates are in Star dates and I'm too lazy to write the Earth date in beside every entry, I'm going to teach you how to read Star dates: In the example 1471.04, the '14' represents the day and the '71' represents the year. The '04' after the decimal signifies the month. Got it? We'll see.

Star date 1171.03 Captain's Log: Today we set out from Utopia Planitia on our three-week mission. I have mixed feelings about this mission, but it's important that I remain strong for the crew. I'm happy so far with most of my crew, but as on any ship, there are some exceptions. I'm also having trouble accepting Mr. Tom Paris as part of the crew. If anyone was ever going to read my personal logs I wouldn't write this, but, I used to hate Tom Paris, and I'm not sure how I'm going to react seeing him sitting to my right every day.

Star date 1371.03 Captain's Log: Today I woke and pinched myself to see if I had dreamed everything that happened yesterday, but unfortunately I was not having a nightmare. Yesterday my ship was caught in a "subspace" anomaly that dragged us over 70 thousand light years from home, losing more than half my crew in the process. I don't know what to think, or what to say to the crew. Oh, it's all so confusing. Maybe if I get some rest, I'll be able to sort it through a little better.

Star date 1471.03 Captain's Log:

I just CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! First, we get dragged halfway across the galaxy and then, if that wasn't enough, I find that we've been brought here for testing, and failing that DAMN thing, I find it FAILED, and we're Not going to be returned to the Alpha Quadrant! And to top all that off, the Marquis are right next door. OH, it's just a perfect NIGHTMARE! Oh Mark, I wish you were here to help me deal with this.

Star date 1771.03 Captain's Log: We've now started on our long journey home, with a cobbled together crew, fashioned from the Marquis survivors and a few natives. I have given Tom Paris the Conn., and have given the first officer's position to a Marquis named Chakotay. The only good that has come out of this is the fact that I have Tuvok by my side again. If Tuvok is at the security console, I feel sheltered, protected. Oh, why does life have to be so damn hard?
