Shayera was thinking of the past year, starting at January and going till yesterday. It's been a long year, hard and full of sorrow. She jumped when someone knocked on her door.

"Who is it?"

"It's Santa!" Shayera giggled at this. "Wally? Is that you?" She opened the door to find Wally holding 2 cups of cocoa and a wrapped box. "What are you doing here? Don't you have plans with your family?" she asked. Wally shook his head. "I knew you were spending it alone, and I decided to come hang out with a friend." Shayera sat down next him and pulled him into a hug. Tears leaked out her eyes when she thought of Wally. He'd always believed in her, no matter what.

Wally wriggled free of the hug and held out the box. "Here unwrap it." She carefully took off the bow and wrapping paper. Wally started to fidget. "Can't you go a little faster? I'm so excited!" She laughed and pulled the lid off. It was sweater, softest silk and shag. With a warm cream color it was absolutely gorgeous.

"Wally I can't wear this. How will it fit over my wings?" Wally picked it and her up off the couch. "Look." The back had two slits for her wings and zippers right below them. He pulled it over her head and helped her arms through. Then he fitted the slits on wings and zipped it up. "See, it fits perfectly."

Shayera rubbed her arms and looked down. "But I don't have anything for you." Wally lifted her chin to look her in the eye. "This'll work." He wrapped her in his arms and gently kissed her. Shayera wrapped her arms around his neck to keep him there. Even through the thick sweater, she could feel his heartbeat, pounding like a drum.

Later that night they were sitting on her narrow couch, watching "It's a Wonderful Life". "This feels good." She whispered. "But why did it take so long?" Wally shrugged. "I don't know, I guess I was afraid you didn't like me." Shayera kissed his nose. "I can't explain it very well, but this is nice. More than nice, wonderful." She snuggled deeper into his arms, and smiled. "Well I got a Christmas wish this year."
