Emotion
Meryl ran as fast as she could, she was less than a mile away now, running lower on breath with every step, her face turning redder and redder. She passed a stand with some old men playing checkers; there was a black cat on the bored. She knew what awaited her, but she refused to believe it. A surge of emotions was running through her, like sand thru a drainpipe.
Some were out in the emptiness that created the land of gunsmoke Knives was laughing. Not a laugh of humor, or a laugh to shake away an uncomfortable feeling, but a laugh of pure evil. A laugh that when heard would put a shiver down the spine of someone who had just killed twenty men.
Back to Meryl she burst through the front door with such force it came off its hinges, only to come to a sudden stop when she saw Milly crying.
"Am I too late?" Asked the Small of the women
"No..." Came Milly's almost silent response, to which Meryl took off running once again.
Back to Knives, he had stopped laughing and seemed a little sad.
"Darn she will make it in time... oh well it now like that is going to change anything..." Knives thought to himself. "Its too bad too if it wasn't for this I might have let her live in Eden with us, if only to make my brother happy..." A grin spread over the mans face, and at the top of his lungs he screamed "BUT NOW THAT CAN'T HAPPEN RIGHT VASH?"
Cut to Vash he was lying in bed and a look of over whelming pain went over his face, "Knives you are heartless, I never imagined you would stoop so low as to attack your own brother..." Then Vash let the last breath out of his body. At that moment Meryl came running through the door. She ran up to the bed, kneeled over Vash and cried. She would never see him again, not the way he scarfed down his donuts, not his precise shooting, it was all gone.
