A little blonde boy entered the room. His son. He still couldn't believe that he was a father, yet here he was, an identical copy of him, only 25 years younger. Scorpius was usually an excited boy, but today he seemed… well, nervous. Of course Draco knew what this was all about: the Father's Day. But he kept quiet. Scorpius slowly approached his father, he was hiding something behind his back, probably a present for daddy.
- Hello daddy.
- Hello Scorpie.
- Erm… You know today is an important day, right?
- Why? Is your mom baking cookies? Said Draco, deciding to have a little fun.
- I don't believe you forgot it! Scorpius said, outraged. It's Father's Day today!
- Yeah? So?
- So… I got you a present.
- Really?
- Yes. Here it is.
Scorpius held out a bright pink package. Suddenly Draco felt like he'd swallowed a knife.
A little blonde boy entered the room. He was hiding something behind his back, fidgeting all the time, so nervous. A pretty blonde woman smiled at him encouragingly so he approached he tall, blonde man. The man said, with an icy voice: "So, it's father's day today. I hope you bought me a present that's worthy of a Malfoy." The boy didn't answer, he just held out a lilac package. For a moment, it seemed like there was a red gleam in the man's eyes, next moment they were cold, icy gray as usual. "Lilac? You wrapped my gift in lilac paper?" He snatched the package from the boy's hand….
-… and mommy said we should wrap it in silver paper but I insisted. I don't understand why it can't be pink. I like pink.
Scorpius was saying excitedly.
Pink is fine, Draco said; trying to sound reassuring.
He started to unwrap the package, with an odd feeling in his chest. It was a ring, emerald, on silver. He suddenly felt relieved, but his relief was short lived.
Did you like it, daddy? Actually I didn't. I wanted to buy you a heart shaped locket, and I was going to put a picture of you and me in it: It was going to be lovely! But mommy said you'd like this better. Did you, daddy??
Inside the package, there was a china doll. The blonde man froze, than threw it as far as he could. It shattered to a million pieces. "How dare you! How dare you buy me a… a.. doll!" The boy looked frightened, but managed to speak, in a tiny voice but still... "I like dolls." The man got really mad, he undid his belt: "You like dolls?! You little homosexual bastard, I'll show you dolls!" He started to whip him, the boy cowered, crying louder everytime the belt's sharp buckle connected with his skin. "Don't you-" Whip. "dare-" Whip. "bring me-" Whip. "something like this-" Whip. "-again!"
Draco smiled.
I think I would have liked the heart shaped one better.
I knew it, I knew it! So we'll go and trade it, won't we daddy? See mommy, daddy does like heart shaped lockets!
Out of the corner of his eye, Draco saw his wife enter the room.
The blonde woman entered the room, and flung herself in front of the boy: "Stop it, stop it, you'll kill him!" she shrieked. The boy took advantage of his momentary luck and ran away from the room, leaving a trail of blood. The last thing he saw was the man slapping the woman, and the woman crying on the floor, cursing him.
He said:
Maybe we should keep this, too: after all your mommy chose it, and mommy always chooses the loveliest things, doesn't she? But of course, we'll also buy the heart shaped one.
With a sideways glance, he watched his wife's reaction. She looked surprised, but pleased nonethless. He smirked to himself, pleased, and turned to his son:
- Come here and give your daddy a cuddle, yeah, that's my son.
