Chapter One

One would think that the downfall, the permanent downfall, of Voldemort and his followers of Death Eaters would bring joy to wizarding world and in the beginning it had. Parties and celebrations were thrown all over the world as everyone looked towards an eighteen year old boy and his best friends as they finished his last year at Hogwarts. But as time wore on, the wizarding world then realized it wouldn't be long till someone else tried to take over the world and soon everyone would be in danger. Also the memories of those who had lost their lives in the war began to flood back and the wizarding world fell into a depression but of course, moved on with their lives.

Dumbledore however would not tolerate such behavior at his school. The students who were living had to show the world that they could still be happy, still live peaceful lives without the loom of death hanging over them at every possible moment. And to do that, he decided it was time to try things the muggle way. Entertainment. Singing. Dancing. Acting. Thus, he enlisted the help of Hermione Granger.

"What is this about Professor? Exams are in four months and you're calling me here to discuss something that hasn't anything to do with school?" Dumbledore smiled, chuckling softly to himself as he shook his head, a shimmer in his old blue eyes.

"This is about the school Miss Granger. Very. I want to try to lighten the spirits of the students here. If the depression keeps up, not one student will do as well as they should on their exams. I want to give them something fun. The quidditch matches aren't helping at all. Therefore, I want to try something new." Hermione sighed, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Then what is it that you need me for?" Dumbledore smiled opening his mouth to speak only to be interrupted by the entrance of the Potions Master.

"Sorry for my lateness Proffessor. I had a problem with one of the students," he stated, his voice sullen, cold, and hard as it had always been.

He had become more cold and distant than ever when the retrieved him from almost death at the hands of Voldemort. Before the finale battle, Voldemort had discovered Severus's status as a spy for Dumbledore and tortured him greatly. The contents of what had happened were private as only Dumbledore and Snape himself knew of them.

Severus cleared his throat as he noticed Hermione sitting in one of the chairs across from Dumbledore, his nose scrunching up in distaste. "That's fine Severus, sit, please, do sit. I need both of you for this to work! I would like to put on the play Wicked here at Hogwarts!" he stated giddily.

"Wicked?" Severus asked, confused as he rose an eyebrow.

"Wicked is a new big Broadway show. It's a muggle thing, something you wouldn't understand Professor," Hermione groaned. "I don't understand? Why perform Wicked? Not only is it the prologue to one of the scariest movies of all time, the students would think it as a joke! It insults the wizarding world!"

"Prologue to what?" Severus asked, becoming even more confused and even more ticked off at the total lack of respect from Hermione.

"The Wizard of Oz," Dumbledore stated. "And I've seen it, and it does not insult us at all. I'm surprised you think of it like that considering you are muggle born. It's an excellent show with great songs and an excellent story line. And how is The Wizard of Oz scary?"

"When your six and you see a green lady in black melt because of water, you tend to become afraid. Plus, the scarecrow catches on fire, and there's those disgusting flying monkeys!"

"The fact is Miss Granger, I have decided that Hogwarts will perform Wicked the day before graduation and everyone will have fun and be happy for once!"

"May I just ask why I am here?" Severus asked, annoyed that he had been ignored and the fact that he didn't understand one thing they were saying.

"Because Severus, you shall be supervising this project of ours," Dumbledore stated with a grin. "You are the one who will set up the auditions, pick the actors, direct the play. I'll be there to help you too of course, but most of it will rest in your hands Severus." At this Severus began to chuckled, a smile gracing his lips as he stood.

"This is a joke, yes? Very good Dumbledore, very funny. We had our laugh now what is it you really wanted to tell me?" Dumbledore only stared at him as a frown marred his lips.

"I don't think he's kidding Professor," Hermione whispered as she stared at him.

"You can't be serious!" Dumbledore nodded, his lips twitching upwards as Severus's grin disappeared replaced by a scowl. "I am not doing this! No way! I can barley stand these kids as it is, now I have to listen to them belt out off key songs too?"

"You have a keen ear Severus, I'm sure you could pick the right kids to do the parts. Come on, it's time for everyone to stop sulking and be happy. The war is over. I will not allow it anymore. It's starting to have an affect on me! There for Severus, you shall do it. And Hermione here is going to help us get the materials we need, scripts and all that. Mrs. Weasley has already agreed to make the costumes. It can be preformed in the great hall. I've worked everything out. So, all I need you two to do is agree and you will agree, understand?" Hermione nodded and Severus growled, glaring at the old man.

"I'm doing this against my will," he growled at which Dumbledore only smiled before sending them on their way.
