All the glory about the Potter universe belongs to Rowling

Harry gave a short nod to Hermione who was looking at him with worry written all over her face. He wanted to be alone and after few moments Hermione gave up. She headed to the castle leaving Harry stand alone by the lake. Sigh escaped from his lips as he leaned against big oak tree. It was unusually calm evening. Nothing around him moved, even the lake was so smooth it was almost creepy. Harry wondered if even the fish and other living things in the lake had just stopped for the moment. There was only a thin pink stripe in the horizon to remind of the warm day that had passed. Harry wrapped his arms around himself and tried to keep warm.

He had been alone for couple of minutes before he heard familiar steps getting closer. Harry didn't turn around as he knew exactly who they belonged to and he wasn't ready to face the person. As the steps stopped right behind Harry, he closed his eyes for a second to collect his thoughts and turned around. There was warm, happy smile on Draco's lips and it went all the way up to his eyes. Just one look in the bright, grey eyes he loved threw Harry out of his course. A tiny voice in his head started screaming against the decision Harry had made. It wasn't fair for either of them. Why would he let all of it go just like that.

No

No

No!

Draco looked carefully at Harry. He knew the other boy well enough to know there was something going on with him. It was visible in Harry's ever so green eyes. All Draco could see in those eyes was desperation and loss. It used to be so different. Before the war Harry's eyes had been full of life and happiness. Even if it was rare sight nowadays it usually was there somewhere. However tonight Draco saw pure pain and it made him want to wrap his arms around Harry and tell how everything was going to be okay.

As he noticed Harry's lips shaking he took a better look at the boy. Amused smile crept it's way to Draco's lips. Nobody else would be so stupid as to go and stand by the lake in mid November wearing nothing but a thin shirt. Nobody except Harry. He removed his own robe and threw it over Harry's shoulders. Harry grabbed the robe with both of his hands swearing to himself he would never let it go. It's familiar smell made his heart ache.

Harry jumped out of his thoughts as he felt Draco's hand touch his face. Almost without thinking he took a step back, escaping the touch. Disbelief lit up in Draco's eyes and Harry knew he had hurt the other boy. Before Draco had time to take a step towards Harry, Harry shook his head slightly freezing Draco on his tracks. Dozens of different scenarios ran through Draco's head, none of them good. Harry opened his mouth to say something but no words came out. Not even a small apology. Instead he ended up biting his lip and looking straight in Draco's now desperate eyes. There was no words needed. Draco knew exactly what Harry was going to say and it made him feel awful, almost like he was sick. Harry closed his eyes so he wouldn't have to look at Draco. He turned around and walked back to the castle leaving Draco alone. As he walked he wrapped Draco's robes even tighter around himself and hoped that at some point Draco would understand why he chose to walk away.

Draco sank down and leaned against the very same tree that Harry had been leaning against just minute ago. Around him nothing had changed. The whole moment had frozen, even the lake was as calm as earlier. But in Draco's head everything had gone upside down. His world had turned upside down and he didn't know if there was any way of going back to how it had been. Tears rolled down his cheeks but he made no effort to stop them. It was Draco's turn to wrap his arms around himself and try to keep somewhat warm.
