"Congratulations then." Yaya managed a weak smile.
"Thanks Yaya, we'll make sure to come back for visits as often as we can."
Amu, Tadase, Nagihiko and Rima were graduating. Yaya couldn't help but feel nauseous at the concept of running the guardians on her own. Of course there would be new guardians but they would be younger. Yaya didn't want to be alone, they were her best friends but they didn't need her and they were moving on. She would have to make new friends. People always told her that she could make friends and that she was lucky she wasn't shy or withdrawn. But today Yaya felt shy, she felt alone and cold. She knew that they weren't graduating to spite her, that was impossible it was their turn to move on, but somehow that made it worse. The feeling inside of having to give up what you've been clinging onto and find something new was tormenting Yaya. Not many people knew the real Yaya, the one that had matured while the outer character stayed the same. She wished she had the ability to show her true self. But she didn't want to grow up and lose her childhood, the one thing that adults always told you was precious. All Yaya knew was childhood and from what she'd seen of the world it was much easier than an adult life. Her attachment to youth had been the key to Pepe's birth. Yaya was torn apart, she wanted to stay a child and live a happy, ignorant life, but she also wanted to follow her friends and grow up with them. Kukai had already left for high school, he must have been scared. He was the first one of us to be pushed into this unknown land. But now all of her other friends were going to leave too. It broke her heart that they were all going to be together while she had to bring together a new team of guardians. Yaya could imagine them laughing together and joking and playing. They would forget all about her and even if they did visit, all they would talk about would be their new high school lives, they would be the ignorant ones, not knowing how tortured she was because she hid it all behind a smile. What would happen if she suddenly dropped that façade? What would happen when they suddenly realised that the Yaya they knew was just a cover up for a person scared to change? Yaya knew she didn't have the courage to ever give up her childhood but she couldn't help but wonder how they would react when they saw how much she had matured on the inside. They were leaving, her best friends were leaving her, she would have no one, she was all alone, they had each other, who did Yaya have?
