Doppelgänger
By SMYGO4EVA

They thought they were human. They thought they were just like everyone else, with memories, a past, a present, a future, and simply human beings. They thought they were normal. How wrong they were. How dead wrong they were. They only thought they were human, but in the end, they were anything but human. They are only pawns in a cruel chess game toying with many lives, destroying them and taking what was left of their sanity with them in the eve of their deaths. They are just dolls to play with anytime one wished that wanted until they were deemed useless and tossed aside forevermore.

Syaoran wasn't the man he thought he was until he became the imposter he was created to become, playing a part in a cruel master's game all along and he didn't even know it until it was too late. By then, he took a part of what the master always wanted him to be, and his real self was left to discover that he was a liar as well. He deceived the group of travelers he was with, and therefore he had to walk away, reigniting the burning flame of destruction he had in the face of the real Syaoran. Cold and indifferent, soulless as a puppet, controlled by the whims of the master, the master known as Fei Wong Reed, for reasons that only made sense to him and no one else.

Sakura had always thought she was the princess of the Clow Kingdom and Syaoran's friend, however, deep inside the chasms of her soul, she felt that she was someone else; Someone different…someone with no exact memory of how things were or were supposed to be. She felt as if she was someone who turned up in the wrong place at the wrong time, as if she was a part of a wicked trick fate wanted to conjure for her just so she would know herself that she too was an imposter and a liar to her supposed friends and loved ones. She felt as if she was a fool, an imposter, someone who had been sent in for subterfuge missions on those she considered her friends, and someone who secretly enjoyed doing them.

The Syaoran and Sakura everyone knew were only copies of the real being, and they were just imposters, making them liars that they truly were, whether they wished for it or if they wished against it. It didn't matter now, not anymore for these two dolls. They had no souls, no hearts of their own, only the appearances of the true natures that they hid so well and for so long. They were only clones, twins, mirrors of their former selves, soulless dolls, and true doppelgangers, and all they had was themselves and each other. Even in their inevitable deaths, the Syaoran and Sakura in this world were still doppelgangers and nothing more. The true Syaoran and Sakura are still out there, and until we see them in actuality, only the clones are here to stay. They were only mirrors of those who truly existed, and nothing more.
