Disclaimer: I do NOT own Inglorious Basterds or any characters from the movie.
I wrote this in like two hours, so it isn't the best ( lacking detail and whatnot) but I don't feel like adding to it right now. Just a fun little scene with the Bear Jew. Enjoy.
Utivich kneeled in the mud and began messing around with a radio he had looted from the German's camp. It filled the air with scratchy static, fading in and out as the Basterd turned to other stations and moved the antennae. Suddenly the speakers burst to life with song. All the men cheered at Utivich's success. A wordless tune spilled through the camp brightening everyone's attitudes. Except a young woman who leaned against a tree, separate from the group.
She combed her fingers through her thick, curly hair when a shadow fell over. She jumped and looked up at the man who stood in front of her.
The Bear Jew.
He squatted to meet her at eye level. She stared into his brown eyes and her heart raced. He smirked. "What's a matter, Kay?" She couldn't help but grin at the little nickname. "Come on." He stood and held his hand out.
Kayla looked up, feeling like she missed something. "Where are we going?"
Donny sighed and took hold of both her hands, effortlessly pulling her to her feet and pulling her towards the camp. "You're gonna dance with me."
Kayla stopped so suddenly, Donny's hand slipped from hers. He turned back, confused. "No." She said firmly.
Slowly, the big man took a step closer. "Why not?" His smirk returned. "Scared?"
Offended, Kayla stepped right up to the Bear Jew to make her point clear. "Like hell I am." Donny seemed to approve of her answer and started to continue on his way to the music. "I just…can't. I don't know how to dance." She added quietly.
The man looked over his shoulder at her. "A pretty skirt like you cant dance? Well, now, we can't have that. Guess Im gonna have to teach you." He held his hand out again. She let go of her fears and took it, letting him lead her to the group. He turned to face her just as a slow song came on. "Perfect." He whispered with a smile.
Kayla tried her best to ignore the soldiers watching as Donny helped her position her hands in the right places. Her right hand rested on his strong shoulder while her left was enveloped in his warm hand. A flurry of excitement ran through her when she saw him swallow nervously when he placed a firm hand on her hip and moved closer to her. He gently guided her through the steps, staying in tune with the music. Or, at least, he tried to.
She tripped, not knowing which way she was supposed to step. "Ahem." She looked up into his face, just inches away. "Look at me. Not the ground. I'm not that hideous, am I?"
Kayla's cheeks felt hot. "Sorry… I told you I was bad at this."
"Just trust me."
She nodded. They began again, this time not looking away from each other's eyes. She could smell his musky odor and feel the heat from his body. His closeness broke her concentration. She was supposed to step back as he stepped forward but she forgot what she was doing, causing him to run right into her.
She almost fell as she bounced off his chest, but he caught her and pulled her to him, with a breathy laugh. "Wow, Kay. It's a good thing you're cute, 'cuz you really are a terrible dancer." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and loosened his grip.
The music suddenly ended and was replaced with the loud, eccentric voice of a sports announcer in the middle of describing a baseball game. Donny let go of Kayla and rushed to the radio to join the rest of the men in their incomprehensible yelling and cheering. Kayla just sat with a smile and watched her Bear Jew swing his bat around.
