Thrilling Heights
The Sky's The Limit-
OR IS IT?
Alex is a girl! Please do not get confused!
Prologue
ALEX
Hey, it's Alex Ride. This is the story of my family, a. k. a. my Flock and our adventures together.
No, wait, scratch that. No use trying to be all warm and fuzzy. I'll get straight to the freaking point. Better for you, easier for me. Okay, here goes nothing.
There's seven of us, me, Max (who is a girl), Fang (the heartthrob… wait, did I just say that?), Iggy (rhymes with piggy!), Angel, Gasman (don't ask), and Nudge. We're basically freaks, (you can kinda tell by the names.) You know, we're avian hybrids; and don't be all "WTF does that freaking mean?" There's a handy dandy tool for dimwits like you. It's called a dictionary. But since I'm nice, I'll tell you what it means: we have wings. Yep. You heard that right. We're 98% human and 2% bird. And no, we didn't get their booger sized brains. That's not included in the discount package, thankfully. Well… maybe Max did get it, but okay… I should shut up now. Avian DNA was mixed with ours, while we were still nonexistent, and made us. Genetically altered, peeps. We're faster, we heal faster, blah, blah, blah, (but it's not all that great.) We were raised in a place called the School *shudder*. And let me tell you, it was a living hell. You have to go through it to know it. They experimented on us with freaking needles, shots, and cut us open with freaking scissors, and stuck stuff inside us, and…
Yeah, you get the gist. Also there's these things called Erasers, lupine hybrids, (half wolf.) which are made to stalk, terrorize, and murder (my words) their prey, A. K. A. our biggest enemies. We were always forced to fight them School or someplace like home, (so much for home sweet home.) and more often get beat up. And believe me we have a lot of enemies. Lots. Tons. Anyways moving on! *Brightens* So… to sum it all up, this is our story. The story of the Flock, better said, and our struggle for survival. Our struggle and not fall into the freaking hands of the School, and basically try not to be half dead when they're done with us. Which begins sometime ago in the crowded, polluted, gross streets of NEW YORK CITY!
So, over n' out, this is Alex Ride signing off.
Remember don't tell me the sky's the limit when there's footprints on the moon.
See ya soon! Very soon. As in on the next page.
