Lazy yellow moon coming up tonight,
shining through the trees,
crickets are singing.
And the lightning bugs are floating on the breeze,

baby get ready

It was surprisingly hot for an April's evening, and as Emily Prentiss picked up her trench coat and put it on, the cold material felt even colder against her hot skin. She cast a glance over at the office of David Rossi, her colleague and secret boyfriend. They had been dating for just coming up to three months. He had been the most supportive when she came back to the BAU after her 'death'. He had been there for her when her boyfriend left. He had always been there, and he always would. Emily stopped her train of thought as she saw her boss, Aaron Hotchner, leave for the night.

'Goodnight, Emily.'

'Goodnight, Hotch.'

Lately, their conversations had been brisk. He didn't approve of what she had done, and she knew it. But, at least they were on speaking terms again. She heard David's office door open and smiled widely as she saw him. He looked breath-taking, even in jeans, a shirt and a suit jacket. He always did.

'Ready, Emily?' the Italian man asked, smiling at his beloved girlfriend.

'Ready.' She picked up her bag and walked out of the BAU, she recalled David saying something about going to a river that he loved tonight, and that he hoped she would love it all the same.

Spring is almost over and the summers comin',
the days are getting long,
waited all winter for the time to be right.
Just to take you along,

baby get ready.

The river was just out of the city, the quietness was a change to Emily, but a nice one at that. She got out of David's car and set the blanket down at the riverbed, smiling as the man got down, mumbling to himself about how he shouldn't have worn his new Italian leather shoes today. Emily laughed slightly at him and quipped her eyebrows as he handed her a fishing rod. She was an okay fisher, but was bewildered as to why David wanted to go fishing with her. Reluctantly, Emily got up and went beside him and cast her line.

'Emily?' came a quiet voice, almost like it was holding back a laugh.

'Yeah?'

'You forgot to use bait.' David couldn't help but laugh.

And it don't matter if we sit forever,
and the fish don't bite,
jump in the river and cool ourselves,
from the heat of the night.
Baby get ready.

The more she tried, the more she failed. Fishing without light and being unable to see a thing wasn't a good thing for Emily. David, on the other hand, was doing it easily and with skill. Making fun of the girl for failing so many times which kept the atmosphere happy and light.

After the failed attempts at fishing, both Emily and David gave in and decided they would just lay there on the cold grass. At one stage in the night, Emily considered asking David if it would be okay to jump into the river to relieve the awful heat of the night.

You and me going fishing in the dark,
lying on our backs and counting the stars
where the cool grass grows
down by the river in the full moon light
we'll be falling in love in the middle of the night.
Just moving slow,
staying the whole night through,
feels so good to be with you,
and me going fishing in the dark.

The night came to an end, quite too quickly for Emily's liking, but nonetheless, she would always remember the night she went fishing in the dark.
