For the Future

Ever since I first met you,
I felt drawn to you, by a mystical, powerful force.
You fell out of the sky, and right into my arms
And I knew at once that it was my job to protect you.

I will, you know, with every ounce of strength.
It's comforting that you believe in me,
And know that I will always be there for you.
Listen closely. Always.

Remember the old days?
The fights between you and her, now you remember?
I couldn't choose between you two then,
And now I know that it would be impossible.

The future is awaiting your return.
In a strange sense, I am waiting for you there.
Stay out of trouble, eat all your vegetables,
But most of all, know that I'm thinking about you.

You'll be in my heart. Encased forever. I promise.
