This is inspired by episodes 513 and 514. So if you hadn't seen them and don't want spoilers, don't read.

Anyways, like I said, this is inspired by afore mentioned episodes, mainly 514. Enjoy.

As in my other story, some word will be in bold and will have an interpretation at the bottom.

Midori: She doesn't own Detective Conan. Nope, uh-uh, never.

Cold Hearted Rain

When Megure asked him to confirm if what Mouri told them about the body was true, Takagi wanted to say no. Seriously, who would want to see the corpse of a girl who murdered someone only to commit suicide straight afterwards, leaving her boyfriend to clear her name?

But he went anyways.

The car was easy enough to find. They had heard the description of the car earlier from Conan, and there was a small trail of blood leading to it, albeit a little hard to see from the rain and dim light the lamppost provided. It wasn't until they opened the trunk and got a good look at one Kuzumi Maiko's face did Takagi freeze.

Short black hair…acute nose…sharp chin…

Too much. She looks too much like…like her.

The only visible differences were the eyes. This girl's lashes were thicker.

Takagi turned his head away. It was far too easy to imagine Satou Miwako in this girl's place.

"Ta-Takagi-san?" One of the officers that came with him asked uncertainly. Takagi shook his head, "It's nothing. Call another ambulance…and cover her with something." He said softly before heading back to the apartment building where Megure and the others were waiting.

After he confirmed what he found with Megure, he was asked to take Somei back to the station. A part of him idly wondered why Megure wouldn't do it himself, while another part of him wanted nothing more than to get this case over as quickly as possible.

As they were about to get into the car, the paramedics were just loading Kuzumi's covered body into the ambulance. Somei looked on sorrowfully, and Takagi couldn't help but feel sad and sorry, for both of them.

The ride to the station was a quiet one, weighed heavily by the melancholic atmosphere. Takagi was startled when Somei suddenly spoke. "Keiji-san, do you have anyone important in your life?"

Takagi blinked at this seemingly out of the blue question. "Y-yeah, actually I do." He said finally. Then he added softly, "She…she looks a lot like Maiko-san."

"Really?" Somei let out a small, sad chuckle. The sound reminded Takagi of as story he used to hear when he was a kid. A certain story that also had the cold hearted rain, that's pouring down, ever-persistent, on the streets of Tokyo.

The rest of the ride was ensued in silence. But inside Takagi's head, it was much different. One thought kept repeating itself, chilling Takagi to the very bone.

If it was Satou-san, would I make the same decision as Somei-sacho?

For those who have seen this episode, yes, I do think that Maiko looked like Satou. The only differences I see are the eyes. And the hair, as Maiko actually showed her ears and that they're a bit longer than Satou's, and the bangs were a bit different. BUT, if Maiko fell down 20 floors, her hair is bound to not stay finely tucked behind her ears, right?

As for the story Takagi was remembering, it's up to you to decide what story it was, cos I have no idea.

Anyways, reviews? Questions? Complains? Be sure to post 'em if you have any of those! But no flames!
