The Last Rice ball

After a busy international conference in Japan, the six princes were enjoying dinner together. In order to fully experience the Japanese culture, they were staying in a ryokan, a traditional-styled Japanese inn, and, for their dinner, traditional Japanese dishes were served…including rice balls.

The majority of the rice balls had been eaten by Prince Joshua, as they were his favourite. However, now he faced a problem… There was only one rice ball left. It sat there, inviting him to eat it. But, he knew that he wasn't the only one who wanted a taste.

As he looked up from the platter holding that last rice ball, he locked eyes with Prince Roberto. The Prince from Altaria smiled back at him after he had registered their eye-contact.

"Joshua, you've been eating lots of these, haven't you? They must taste good…" Roberto struck up conversation. And so the first challenger showed his intentions...

"They do." Joshua replied simply, not able to harm the great rice ball's reputation, but also not wanting Roberto to gain more incentive to take his precious rice ball.

"Since there's only one left, why don't we halve it and share?" Prince Edward suggested to Roberto, becoming the second challenger for the last rice ball.

"Why only halve it? What about me?" Joshua protested, not happy that he had been left out of their exchange.

"But you've already had several. It's polite to share Joshua." Prince Glenn commented. It seemed that Glenn chose to oppose him as well…

Joshua exchanged a silent, challenging glare with the young prince from Oriens. He then switched to Roberto, making sure that everyone could sense his bad mood. The entire room was in silence until…

"Aaagh! Hot! My mouth is on fire!" Keith yelled, fanning his mouth and dashing over to where they sat.

He then promptly grabbed the rice ball and ate it to ease his burning mouth. As the flames settled he noticed Joshua glaring at him and Roberto, Edward and Glenn displaying surprised faces at his actions. It seemed that he had upset them.

"I had no choice but to eat it! My mouth was burning!" Keith defended his actions, realising that the others must have wanted it. He then turned his own glare towards where he was previously sitting, next to Prince Wilfred.

The others followed and looked in his direction. However, all they saw was Wilfred showing his usual mysterious and amused smile, not giving away his true thoughts.

Joshua was the only one to notice Wilfred hiding a small green packet behind him that read: "Wasabi".

And so Joshua recognised his true enemy, the one who prevented him from having the last rice ball, behind that mysterious smile.
